Challenge #04080-K062: A Deal Borne From Deception

Magic used to make themselves look elven, the clothes, the hat, the smile. Traveling alone, they used their magic to aid others to the best of their ability, sometimes to their own detriment. They claimed to be Wraithvine, though they were not. But their only desire was to save lives, bring smiles, and ensure the innocent were well cared for. Then... they met the real Wraithvine themselves... -- Anon Guest

Another town. Another cluster of needs. Another group of excited children who'd grown up on Wraithvine stories. Another set of problems that needed a wandering mage to solve. Maybe magic and a series of creative solutions to unusual problems.

A little invention could cover the gaps between herself and what the real Wraithvine was capable of.

The patchwork hat helped her out a great deal. It had a magic within to disguise the wearer to look however they wanted. And she... always chose to look like Wraithvine. Hair short so that nobody could ask for charms. Her hair was certainly not Elven hair. Not even close. Almost the opposite, actually.

Saturday, Parkrun and PLNs Disrupted

I was supposed to take Beloved home with me, today. Alas, her meds have "stepped up" and she was literally throwing up on the ride to Adorable's place. So I could not do that.

I allegedly get her to share my air tomorrow. Which, in turn, has cancelled my D&D game tomorrow morning. All so I can be conscious in time for her to come to me.

Last time we made that arrangement, the plans fell through.

The good news

Challenge #04079-K061: Judge, Jury, and...

They sought out a serial killer. This killer sought CEO's and their supporters. Leaving a trail of slit throats and feathers shoved down their trachias.

The killer, was a level 3 deathworlder, who had no regrets over the killings, and said quite bluntly, crossing their scaly, feathery, arms, that they don't intend to stop. -- Anon Guest

There was a serial killer operating in Greater Deregulation Middling North-Northeast. The CEO's within it were dying with alarming regularity. The media did what it

Friday, Tentative PLNs

I am going to gradually move all my Wordpress nonsense over to indieweb.org and that means I might have to gather some scratch to fund the hosting. Because Indy people need help to go pro.

BUT I'm not doing that today. Today, I'm cleaning out the catio before getting on with the day's offerings. At some point, I will sort some vinyl.

I've hit an impasse with the Invaders game on Stencyl, in that the bullets are not hitting anything they

Challenge #04078-K060: Lost and Found

Wraithvine nearly reprimands a group being helped by a person who's thin, exhausted, and still working hard. Until they realize that the group's been trying to get the person to stop, too.

"But... I like helping people, it makes me feel as if I'm worth something, it makes me happy, that I have value."

"But you DO have value, to all of us, here."

"No... really... I don't."

--Sigh-- --Anon Guest

It was an easy mistake to make. From a distance, it

I have instructions. I am going to do things to work with them. This may or may not be a breakthrough. It should at least get me moving onwards with the next exercise in learning how the thing works.

I am not going to be an expert in record time. Maybe the world's record for world's slowest programming student. We shall see.

Learn how it works, first. Figure out how to program the game, later.

My first loaf turned out to be

Challenge #04077-K059: Defensive Action Lessons

Jay asks to sit and watch as Lilicoon is talking self-defense classes. -- Anon Guest

"We both know I don't need it with you," said Lilcoon. "I wish to be prepared for all other circumstances."

"I'm not guarding you," said Jay. "I'm not worried. I want..." they flailed for the right words, trying to fish them out of the air with their fingers. "I want to know how it's taught."

"You already know how to fight, yes?" said Lilcoon.

Wednesday, Wordpress BULLSHIT

So I started my day on some unwelcome news: The body corporate that owns Tumblr and Wordpress is now going to sell all the content there to fucking OpenAI and Midjourney.

Thank Grop I didn't post anything of vast import over there. I'm going to have to remove my chapters because that's MY intellectual property, dangit, and no bot is going to have it until it's professionally published.

There are bot repellants, but there's nothing to stop an anti-ethical bot from scraping

Challenge #04076-K058: Hero in Waiting

A: He was born in the wrong era.

B: What do you mean?

A: He improves his skills everyday, but with nowhere to apply it it will all amount to nothing in this era of peace.

B: Isn’t that a good thing? No one should experience war.

A: That’s true. Born in tranquility, raised with love, yet he feels unfulfilled. He will die with loved ones and untapped potential. -- Anon Guest

Some people think there is nothing sadder than

Tuesday, Patreon, Bread, and Shrink Day

Just finished a telehealth call with my shrink. I have Wilson, my wholemeal Starter, incubating. They have a little over an hour remaining before the autolysing begins.

I'm pretty sure the amount of ice is responsible for my bread turning into sod loaves. So I'm back to being particular about the ice I use. It could also be that Wilson was still waking up last time and they'll be on full form sometime real soon now.

Hopefully, this time around.

I'll be

Challenge #04075-K057: Heavy the Heart...

The young, inexperienced, king made some serious mistakes and now his lands are in chaos. He begs for his people to send for Wraithvine and friends, so he can get advice on fixing the mess. His worst problems? He's young, inexperienced, and his advisors are not exactly always honest with him. -- Anon Guest

A child king is loved by his advisors. Mostly because those advisors can shape him, direct him, and coddle him from the truth. You almost never find a

Monday, Foundry Reads and Shenanigans

So here WAS the PLN:

  1. Drop Beloved off at the train station
  2. Drive to North Lakes
  3. Acquire Ashwagandha just as the Chemist Warehouse there opens at 8AM
  4. Maybe write a sentence or two during the SHORT wait.

The key factor in this PLN was that Google insisted that Chemist Warehouse was open at 8AM. Google LIED.

They open at 9AM.

So I settled down for an hour and realised I could work on my entry for the Foundry while I waited. This

Challenge #04074-K056: Zen and the Art of Learning

Several students of Twii have opened their own dojos to help teach that which they'd learned from their sensei. Twii decides to visit to inspect the dojos, and see how lessons are coming along.

A good education is like a virus. It's pretty much designed to spread. Knowledge shared is strength that unites both teacher and student. And if the teacher is really good, they're willing to learn from the student.

Sunday, Laziness

The D&D stream went well. The bit I had prepared for the lols didn't fly, but that's okay. I had fun doing it anyway.

Finally, after a subjective age of errors, I am able to watch Dungeon Meshi aka Delicious in Dungeons, which is a fun anime about cooking and eating the monsters in D&D dungeons.

I shall be moving along with today's offerings and a sentence or two in A Devil's Tale. At a leisurely pace.

Challenge #04073-K055: Lucky Neighbours

In self-imposed exile, even with a beloved pet, a person can go slowly mad from loneliness. The world is lush, perfect for colonies. The first colonists to come down? A boat-load of GOOD luckers. Bad luck doesn't stand a chance.
