Realm of the InterNutter

Thoughts, stories and ideas.

Wednesday, Day 0, Wordpress

Plague news: Two new cases, one of each. There's twenty-eight total active cases, nineteen in hospital and one in the ICU.

Chaos has gone through having the Lurgi. Mayhem has doubtless also recovered. Which means I get to be a big baby and curl up for a majority of the day.

Chicken soup and Shandy are my orders of the day. Five seconds after I post my Wordpress nonsense, belike.

I am being gentle with myself. If I make it to 500 words, then hooray. If not then it doesn't matter.

In the news:

  • Norm McDonald has passed on at 61
  • New iPhone
  • Qld has a law that breaches human rights. Calling it now, it's about the plague restrictions and not about racism. [checks] Huh. It's about the age of responsibility
  • A bunch of idiots in the Northern Territory nearly drowned themselves on a sandbar because drunken end-of-lockdown party
  • PLN to re-name New Zealand
  • Mum who had to watch her baby die tormented by her family. Stay classy, those rellos
  • Elliot Page rocks a black suit at the Met Gala
  • Internet stunned and grossed out by the swim bladder of a porcupinefish

Enough of this nonsense. On with my regular nonsense.

Challenge #03154-H245: Champions at Silly Buggers

A: With the things being the way it is now, all I can do is try to determine what might be going on though naked-eye observations and my imagination

B: In short, you're taking a best guess?

A: "best guess"?! My dear friend, please! That is a woefully inadequate representation of what goes on. a fairer description would be "observation and inference drawing on a wealth of professional experience, including analogous previous cases."

B: Okay, so an educated guess.

A: precisely --

Tuesday, Day 0, Patreon

Plague news: Four new cases, two of each. Twenty-six total active cases, eighteen of those are in hospital and one's in the ICU. Lovely.

Both the spawn are down with a random sickness. Lurgi has struck the household and it's only a matter of days before it strikes at me.

We've rescheduled the big jab for a week later and crossing our fingers.

I don't have an awful lot for Patreon, but I'm doing my best. I'm pretty sure my patrons understand.

Challenge #03153-H244: Alternative to What?

A Pure Lifer, whose ancestors had been some of the earliest of the Pure Lifers had gotten very, very sick. They were still quite young, had very small children to raise, and none of the "medicine" on their world was helping them. In fact, they were getting worse quickly, and no one was willing to care for the children if their parent were to perish, and they had no spouse. What were they to do? Only option left, contact the Alliance, it

Monday, Day 1, Shenanigans

Plague news: No new cases! Twenty-one total active cases, fourteen of those are in hospital.

Beloved and I are unfucking the house some more. My whirlwind wife is making progress I never thought possible. It's amazing.

Somewhere in our agenda, there's going to be a fix for my hair. We over-estimated the power of one of the chemicals and it came out as the wrong sort of blue. Whoops.

There's also going to be cauliflower gnocci at some point.

In other news,

Challenge #03152-H243: We Value Our Employees...

A CEO was BRUTAL to their workforce, to say the least. Suddenly, as if they had all become one hivemind: every man, woman, and child - it seemed like - on the entire colony called to the CRC. They sent drop ships and picked everyone up. Given how distant this world was, despite the fact it was THE most valuable resource planet in the CEO's portfolio, they didn't realize it had completely stopped producing for almost two days. When they went to

Sunday, Day 0, Another Day "Off"

Plague news: EIGHT new cases [and a plethora of hotspots]. Five local transmissions, three imports. There's twenty-one total active cases, thirteen of those are in the hospital.

I can already guess a Knomira got loose with the plague. Some of those hotspots are in MeMum's roaming range. She's had both her jabs, but she's still waiting for efficacy to kick in. Yeeps.

Beloved and I are Spring Cleaning. New gender, new attitude, new house. I'm loving it.

We need storage solutions to

Challenge #03151-H242: Change is... Uncomfortable

A companion deeply loves their ship's human. When the human retires due to old age, the companion doesn't know if they can handle it -- Anon Guest

"This has to be my last trip," announced Human Set as she eased herself down into the launch chair. "I'm getting too creaky for everyone's good."

That sudden stab into Companion Elik's heart had to be psychosomatic. "You're... leaving us?" Ze could not keep the anxiety out of hir voice.

"I'm not cut out for

Saturday, Day 0, PLNs?

Plague News: One new case, an import. According to our Premiere, we have one local that's being investigated. There's twenty-one total active cases, of which nineteen are in hospital.

Beloved's getting her piercings checked today and I am bodyguard. Yay. I'm getting paid in sushi tonight so I'm happy.

My other plans include: nothing, and enjoying that. I will not fret about making output for the interwebs, just in PURE SLOTH. Nyahah. Sloth and carbs.

In the news:

  • Health officer utters the

Challenge #03150-H241: An Idiot in the Dark

The apprentice wizard had screwed up and had messed up the invisibility spell. They were stuck. They went to find the immortal wizard Wraithvine and found them with the bugbear child and the kolbold companion. Soon as the bugbear child spotted them, they cried begging for help. -- Anon Guest

[AN: Possibly related to this one. Making me look these up eats time]

Being invisible sucks. Though there are senses that make up for it, like seeing your hand in the dark[

Friday, Day 0, Busiest Day

Plague news: One new case, a local transmission. There's twenty-one total active cases with nineteen of them in hospital. Once more, lockdown looms.

I tried not to jinx it. I should just... not mention doughnut days. Sigh.

Today, after story post, I feed the starters, clean the catbox in the catio, make the bikkie, write one thousand words, tag a week's worth of fiction and adjust some mob stats in yet another board for D&D.

I also wrote a poem,

Challenge #03149-H240: Motivation Inclination

The young, 'chosen one', Kevin, is learning about his destiny. The fall leaves are changing, his mother is being her usual self, and the poor kid has just screwed up his fifth spell covering himself in yet another layer of overly bright colored dyes. Well, better learning on dyed dolls and straw dummies than anything alive, for now. Ah, what a lovely fall day! -- Anon Guest

Thursday, Day 2, Org Day

Plague news: No new cases again! It's been a hot while since that's happened. There's seventeen total active cases with thirteen in hospital.

Not going to jinx it. Not saying anything more about numbers.

Today, I wrangle finances, get money, spend money, and perhaps organise things for greater convenience.

On the Honeydew list:

  1. Get a slasher in to knock down the weeds and tall grass in our yard
  2. [related] Purchase a MowerBot to keep the grass in check
  3. Rent a huge firkin

Challenge #03148-H239: You and Your Hobbies

Humans live in a somewhat rustic colony, though they have contact with their Alliance friends and live happy lives. Some Havenworlders come down to study what life is like on worlds that have decided to eschew most technology, save for the very large, highly advanced, hospital kept well out of sight thanks to the treeline, though easy to access if needed.

Today, several individuals are making homemade soap and decided to show their Havenworlder tourists how such a thing was made in

Wednesday, Day 1, Wordpress

Plague news: no new cases! Eighteen total active cases, with fourteen in hospital.

Today, I need to go forth and purchase for myself some tinned fish. Aldi is good for that.

BUT that will happen after I've posted today's story, and likely after I've fed everyone the latest instalment of my Tiefling's sad sad backstory.

I have (temporarily) run out of edits to work on for Adapting so I don't have to fret about that. Yay? But I still have to fret
