Plague Diary

A 2039-post collection

Sunday, Day Zero, Chillaxin'

Two cases from overseas, once more. Thirteen active cases and thirteen people who could choose to be That Arsehole. I note that the infographic for such has altered to make sure everyone knows whether the new cases are from outside or from within.

Smart move.

I have already enjoyed watching Toasty make excellent art and, five seconds after I post here, I will likely slink off for an extended slugabout.

Let's get on with it.

Saturday, Day One, I should try to chill

The spreader case in Adelaide once again employed the "genius" tactic of lying to the track and trace people. Something he would not be punished for because that sort of bullshit is still not a crime.

The fuck?

Braaargh...

I finished KOSBOB and am veering away from anything at all related to looking at novel writing until after the week is done, and even then I'm seeing how I feel about it by then.

I'm waiting for the fire in my heart

Friday, Day Zero, no bread necessary

I have the bikkie in progress, now topped with Kalamata Olives I found in Little Woolies. Yes, folks. That's my new name for the regular one. Because "Big W" is apparently short for "Big Woolies". Lawl.

I want to write the last words of KOSBOB today but I'm not going to force it. If it happens, it happens. If not, then next week is just as good.

Today's three new cases are all overseas imports detected in quarantine, raising the number of

Thursday, Day Zero, and more running around

There is only one thing missing from my home, now. Olives. Between the cats, the car, and Beloved's birthday, my personal economy is looking more than a little shattered. $800 just for the car is a sock in the guts, dear readers.

Yeah, I needed new tyres.

There's a new case today, from overseas and detected in quarantine, leaving us with ten active cases in Queensland alone. South Australia is battling the nonsense of another outbreak, leading the potential for borders open

Wednesday, Day Zero, CHAOS!

Another case from overseas. Nine active cases. Nine chances for that one arsehole to be a dick. South Australia has had an outbreak linked to -join the chorus- a family of institution workers.

You'd think by now that they'd just regularly test the people who work at institutions, but nope. That's not a thing. If I was running things, I'd have noticed the pattern and acted accordingly.

The Muppet's lawyers have all quit except this one guy who also works as a

Tuesday, Day Two, SIDEWAYS!

So here's the situation... Miss Chaos fell off a bouncy ball at school and bumped her noggin in a worrying way. I had to take her to the doctor's, then home for observation. She's staying home today.

The problem with this? Today's the day I'm taking my car in for a service. I have to keep her with me for those shenanigans. Which means bring along some entertainment devices for the love of Harry and St George.

In a few short hours,

Monday, Day One, and Schadenfreude

This morning comes with some interesting news, such as the fact that the Muppet has himself some impending legal and financial trouble following his exit from the Whitehouse.

He thinks he can give himself a full pardon for everything. The people who know more about it say "lol nope". It's never been attempted before, and the Muppet's got just enough hubris to try.

Today's PLN includes unfucking the house, some more words into KOSBOB, and of course the daily tale.

Let's look

Sunday, Day Zero, One Day of Rest PLN'd

Good news - I have a decent amount of bread in the freezer. Bad news, it was a long and complicated process because I also had to take the cats to the vet and intercept unanticipated house visitors.

Yeeps.

Sourdough on its own is complicated enough. Twice that plus cats plus unintended running around plus bread juggling1... leads to one exhausted 'Nutter. I earned treats, but I only had strawberry cheesecake Haagen Daaz.

Then Beloved babysat my breads and voluntarily got

Saturday, Bread, Day Zero, Kitty Chaos

One more from off the shore, eight active cases [I can presume that the two now off the list got better] and mutterings of open borders in time for Christmas.

Here comes Plague-a-claus....

Ahem. I'm a bitter bitch. Ignore me.

I have kitties to sequester in their carrycases because TODAY is finally the day that I drag them off for their vaccines. Huzzah. Since I'm also making TWICE the bread, this weekend, I have Beloved babysitting my starter and maybe the actual

Friday, Bread Day, Day Zero

Three new cases today, all from overseas, all detected in quarantine. Ten active cases. Ten potentials to have one of them be an arsehole.

Chaos is going through my bread supplies so I'm doing a Double Batch as an attempt to keep up. One batch today, and another batch tomorrow. Which is also the new-new-rescheduled day for the cats to get their jabs.

This is the third time I have planned to traumatise my cats this week. It is stress. Jolie is

Thursday - Day Zero

One more case from overseas and captured in quarantine. We have eight total active cases. Any one of those could up and decide to be the One Arsehole.

Today, I am taking my kitties to the vet's for their immunisations. It's very important to keep the creatures in my care safe, even though their likelihood of contracting anything is minimal at best. One Arsehole works even for critters, though critters have less in the way of agency in that case.

It's going

Wednesday- Day Six

I did phone calls to get the cats' jabs and my car service, yesterday. Arranging all the nonsense had me wiped out. Emotional labor is a thing.

Poor kitties are in for an adventure tomorrow.

In the news:

  • Muppet brags that he has the absolute right to give himself a pardon
  • Photo of Muppet being welcomed by former Prez shows up to embarrass Muppet
  • One off Crimbolio Rules appear for Xmas During Plague
  • Muppet's secretary of state claims a "smooth transition" to

Tuesday - Day Five

Good things have happened. Hilarious things have happened. Tension is still in the air and there is dancing in the street. Biden won, Muppet refuses to say anything about it, and what was meant to be a concession speech happened in a parking lot between a crematorium and a dildo store.

Sometimes, in my more paranoid moments, I wonder if the right-wing is purposefully appearing to be incompetent, so as to soften the image of their impact to the left. Sure, we

Monday - Day Four

The USA has overwhelmingly chosen to not have the Muppet in office. Of course the right wing is throwing a tantrum about it. At least ScoMo's willing to roll with the flow.

The internet is more or less sighing in relief. Maybe this will be the turning point where the world brings itself back from the brink.

The real difference between the Muppet and Biden is that the Muppet surrounded himself with toadies and yes-men. Biden, even when campaigning, has surrounded himself

Sunday - Day Three - Leyland's Tour!

Yesterday was almost complete shenanigans and most of it was spending too much money getting supplies. Thanks to the lack of community transmission, I actually felt bold enough to shop around rather than go on the most efficient path to obtain the thing.

Things have changed so much it's disorienting.

  • Big W has two dedicated exits and one dedicated entrance
  • Golden Circle Factory Outlet has moved
  • Right next to a Silly Solly's
  • I went to six different places and forgot to get
