Challenge #03383-I095: All For the Want of a Chair

The war has already begun. It's just the continuation of past battles. The gods goad us on with their seven treasures. Rewards for the worthy, the doorway to divinity. Yet buried in the depths of this world lies smouldering remains, a warning to those who dare trespass. “That throne in the sky is not reserved for you.” But mortal arrogation never stops. None will escape the flames. -- Anon Guest

They called it the flying throne. It never actually went anywhere, and it appeared to be a wooden chair of Elven make. A chair made to last a lifetime. A chair made to last an Elven lifetime. The fact that it floated half a mile above the ground was what caught everyone's notice. Not even birds would alight on it, and they certainly never shat on it.

Kings tried to have it dragged to their realms. Empires attempted to move it, but it resolutely remained. Unmoving and unmovable. Legends said that if anyone could sit in it, they would be immortal. People just cannot resist gossip like that.

Warlords slaughtered thousands. Spellcasters immolated the surrounding countryside to try and reach it. Attempt after attempt after attempt failed to claim it. Every solution from the simple, just use a ladder to the complicated and convoluted, failed.

Tuesday, Patreon and unfuckening

Thanks to Beloved being yet another whirlwind, I now have a small store of prepped meals so I don't default to potentially unhealthy nonsense when Beloved is not otherwise around to cook. And it will save money on restaurant stuff.

...though it does look like the spawn have noticed the meal trays and thought, Aha! Easy food.

Sigh.

Same as it ever was.

Today, I shall finish writing my Tale Foundry entry, post on Patreon, and tidy up around the kitchen a

Challenge #03382-I094: Divine... Wrong?

What makes a ruler? Is it their crown? Their bloodline? Their birthright? Is it their strength, their power, their magic? Is it all of the above? None of the above? These things go through a young prince's mind, as they are told their older sibling has stepped down as heir, and they must take their sibling's place. -- Anon Guest

Centuries ago, a warlord had made a throne, and put a circlet of gold on his head. He made his friends into

Long Monday Nonsense

It's school hols, so I don't need to wake up Miss Chaos nor get her organised for nonsense.

I do have to be awake at a certain hour to participate in the Tale Foundry readings. And be awake at a different hour to pay a tradie [we're lopping extraneous trees! Yaaayyy] but I can set alarms and be conscious later.

I never expect much of myself on Long Monday. If I get cheevs, I get cheevs.

I get an astonishing amount done

Challenge #03381-I093: The Lucky Ones

Please forgive my siblings, they mean no offense, honest. We're all just... really scared. -- Anon Guest

Fear does interesting things. Some cry, some freeze; some, like the small child repeatedly trying to kick his leg, attacked. The repetitive ding, ding, ding of small wooden clogs against featherstar plate[1] indicated that this particular toddler was going to protect their family or go down trying.

A reasonable reaction for a small family of Tieflings when encountering a paladin.

Sunday, day of rest?

Still patiently waiting for the end of Toasty's hiatus, but at least Tale Foundry is there for me. So to speak. I miss the art stream shenanigans.

On the other hand, the spare hours in the morning give me plenty of time to work on other projects. Like populating the level of dungeon my players will eventually dragon in. Or extending that no-longer brief "little thing" I was using as a palette cleanser between books in my trilogy.

Or catching up on

Challenge #03380-I092: Adhesive Coping Strategy

Face blind -- Anon Guest

Humans take odd things with them. Comfort toys, religious symbols, multitools... you name it. Human Najm brought a seemingly infinite supply of stickers, and offered them up to their crewmates.

"For your livesuits," Najm explained. "So I know who everyone is."

"We have nameplates for that," Captain Hrafn frowned. She could not understand this version of practicality. "And you can see our faces."

Saturday, Leyland's Tour

I have written the story. I have the bikkie cooking in the background. All my normal activities are now orbiting Beloved's schedule and on hold for MeMum.

And later on this week, we are getting stuff to make a door betwixt the official front of the house [master bedroom, lounge] and the rest of the house. Just so Pippi can't leap into the greater outdoors and put her life at risk.

Also so that we can have nice furniture in the front

Challenge #03379-I091: Eternal Regrets

Half Angel / Half Demon, All Hero. Amatu tries to find a way to cure Malforence of their curse and bring them back into the light.

https://peakd.com/fiction/@internutter/challenge-03327-i039-a-brief-and-regrettable-encounter -- FightingFit

The simplest of questions lead to the longest of stories. In this case, a simple, "What happened to them?" lead to the kind of story that could take days to tell. Wraithvine knew their time was limited and tried to keep it to the barest of bones.

The best

Friday, Progress?

I shall at minimum be cleaning the Catio and doing up to Area 5 in the map today. I have NO idea what else I shall have going on. That's up to Beloved.

Tomorrow, I shall be headed off on another Meatspace adventure to help MeMum. Tradies to hunt down, tech to support, possibly a shopping trip... you know the deal.

As long as I'm asleep by 6PM, I should be fine.

There may or may not be a trip up to

Challenge #03378-I090: Surprise!

A homeless, sick, human, one of the last few survivors from a Deregger world. One that was now a grave world, having torn itself apart in a civil war after the uprising against the brutal CEO and their polity had driven the population into desperation. They smuggled themselves onto the last cargo pod that made it to a small way-station and soon collapsed to fall asleep in a small green park. -- Anon Guest

The woods were silent, dark and deep. Britta

Thursday, Further Shenanigans

Date Day happens today because that's when The Bad Guys is showing at a cinema somewhere. The work of funny animal heist animation that is also known as Lupin the Furred because anime fans spotted some cinematic parallels in a picosecond.

I shall attempt to populate that level I've been working on until such time as I am needed elsewhere. After that, it's all smoke as far as I recall.

I now have pink roots under my purple streak, by the way.

Challenge #03377-I089: Priority One

In a ship load of orphans, found in floating safety pods, the two of us stood in a sea of stars. Then THEY came to hurt our babies. I may just be a ship, and my partner may be alone save for me at their side, but touch my kids, and I will destroy you! -- Anon Guest

Wednesday, Wordpress and Hairdo's

Today, my love and I are getting our hair did. I think I shall stick with getting the roots refreshed. My other idea of having a full rainbow happening was likely too expensive.

We have many more expensive things afoot.

Starting with PLNs to have storage space for all our assorted garments. And shoes. And getting all the garbage out of our house. AND rennos.

Yay.

I have finished the primary layouts for the dungeon level I'm working on, and I may

Challenge #03376-I088: Of Sticks and Stones

A parent severely scolds their children for using terms like tief and trash dragon, among other slurs, when talking to, or of, other beings within their village. They were, after all, just as valuable as citizens of their lands, as everyone else. -- Fighting Fit

The parental shadow loomed over Minta. "If I heard what I thought I heard," menaced Rennie Ainsel. "I'd better not have."

Minta noticed that his older friends had fled for better environments. Ones without - for example
