Challenge #03878-J226: Battlefield Truce

"Grit your teeth and bear it."

The wounded individual screamed out in pain as heated alcohol, not hot enough to burn the flesh but very uncomfortable, poured over the wound.

"I won't let you die. I know you feel like you want to die right now, and I know we're enemies, but you're hurt, and you saved those innocent civilians. We soldiers fight, but sometimes, compassion is more important than this damn war." -- Anon Guest

There is no glory in war. Glory comes afterwards, when the Bards have a decent enough story to weave from threads of truth. And a larger portion of utter horseshit, if one had to be honest.

Playwrites needed something to fill their stages, other than myths and legends, after all.

It would be many years before this particular episode found its way onto the stage. Right now, it was the seed of an entire story. The rest of the whole cloth was waiting for a Bard's inspiration, perhaps decades hence. Right now, it was a hollow near the burned ruins of a building, between the rise of one empire and the fall of another. Between two soldiers with more in common with each other than either of their respective generals.

Sunday, Streaming and Snuggles

As I write this, my Beloved is likely stirring herself from bed or is already in the markets with Adorable.

It's when they're done with THAT that Beloved boards a train and I go to pick her up for the rest of the day.

Fun times ahead for us.

In about half an hour, I shall be streaming some flash fiction. Thereafter, I may or may not take a napnap before my Beloved calls for a pickup.

It will loan me plenty

Challenge #03877-J225: Progressive Engineering

"How did your people study storms such as twisters in your past?" Human - "Oh, we drove big, heavy, vehicles right into the paths of these storms and studied them from the inside."

"Those must've been marvels of engineering, with caterpillars and all to anchor them."

Human - "Nope, just heavy cars with a bunch of armor welded on, kinda like a big tin can with an anchor, and us praying our luck held. Here's a video!"

"I'll say it again what

Saturday, Parkrun and Leyland's Tour

Beloved has taken a disused computer tower from our place to Adorable's so there's more chance of us sharing games or such of the like.

Tomorrow, I do my stream nonsense, and then pick up Beloved at the train station for a day of Baldur's Gate and snuggles.

Today, I get on with my offerings and have a napnap.

Tomorrow, I fully anticipate getting buggerall else done but the barest of basics.

Stay tuned for that.

Let's get going.

Challenge #03876-J224: Alive and Unharmed

I read your story and I could not help but grin at the comments. Could you elaborate from them?

"Bring them in ALIVE, understand?"

"Whole?"

"They need to be alive to stand trial."

"We promise the prisoner will be very much alive, and will be able to be made healthy enough to stand trial."

"Remember ALIVE means their BODY also has to remain alive, as well as the brain!"

"Don't worry, we promise they will be very much physically and mentally alive

Friday, An Attempt

I tried to change things up with The Bikkie this week. In that I was attempting to create something different, I succeeded.

In that I was trying for something tasty... I failed.

In retrospect, I should have let it rise longer and maybe punched it down more than once. Live. Learn. Maybe next time.

The result was a brick of a loaf. One heavy food item, but not a sod, thank the Powers.

I got a little over halfway through it before

Challenge #03875-J223: Point of Disorder

The CRC and several Alliance officials come together to discuss the shocking turn of events. The humans have begun to befriend, the Thranityr and help more and more clans go from being Vorax to being contributing citizens. Even to the point of becoming full allies with the humans. -- Anon Guest

"They're Humans," said one of the board members present in the quorum. "They'll pack-bond with anything alive. Even the things so toxic it'd kill them to touch it. They just invent

Thursday, Game Night and Relax Perhaps?

I'm going through some emotional stuff between Beloved and myself. Stress and stressors and anxiety all in an unseemly heap and date night was a lot of crying and argument.

I'm getting all that unloaded in a different blog.

Stuff off my chest accomplished, I'm still feeling a little frazzled. I am going to go offline to draw ducks after I am done doing the offerings for the interwebs.

...and the voice recordings for Adorable so she can hear my novel in

Challenge #03874-J222: Pitching Therapy Assistance

I made a special virtual reality program for people with explosive tempers. When they get angry, they go into the specially padded room, put on the VR goggles and haptic feedback suit and gloves, and do whatever they need to do to get it out of their system. There's been a lot of success in helping people control their tempers until they can get to the Let it out rooms. -- Anon Guest

[AN: As far as anger management is concerned, mindful

Wednesday, Wordpress and NEWS

All going well, Beloved shall be returning to my abode next week. Probably.

She will want to binge some chapters since...

Chapter count: About to commence Ch 310

I've been busy despite the Lurgi.

I also need to figure out the time windows for arting. I shall sit somewhere comfortable and at least do a sketch layer for one duck. Possibly whilst semi-watching some comfort entertainment for the white noise.

I have some Wordpress to publish, some chapters to record, some plot

Challenge #03873-J221: I Need This Deal

They didn't have parenting licenses, didn't care. They raised these orphaned children to the best of their ability and made sure the children were safe, knew love, were educated, and given the best lives they had the ability to give them. -- The New Guy

[AN: Honestly, the parenting licenses are there to ensure that guardians don't harm the kids they raise. Pretty much the same philosophy as your statistical outlier there]

My name is Taro. Yes, like the food. And I'm

Tuesday, Patreon, art PLNs

I just put out my Patreon stuff and, given the audio files I had on hand, I refuse to feel guilty about the lack of chapters in the WIP.

Some things are easier to do when crook than others. Like... taking advantage of a buffer zone.

...heh.

I have other offerings to cast out into the digital waters, more chapters to read, and maybe even a chapter to write.

Since the cold is mostly over but the chunks in my bronchii, I'm

Challenge #03872-J220: Looks So Harmless

This was a Havenworld, at least for those native to it. Peaceful, utterly harmless.... everything. For those not native to it? They had to stay tightly in their livesuits, or in the special habitats, or risk death. Knomiras saw people walking outside with no livesuits and threw a fit. Fortunately, they got pulled back inside before too much damage was done. -- Fighting Fit

This world only looked like a paradise. Gatekeeper Ulf had the annoying duty of making sure that only

Challenge #03871-J219: Learned the Wrong Lesson

A strange malady strikes a village, everyone under the age of 12 starts dancing every single night from midnight until 1 in the morning, unable to stop until they collapse. Even infants moving in the rhythm. They need help, soon! -- Anon Guest

They tell cautionary tales about a little hamlet in the middle of nowhere. The piper rid the place of rats and, when they refused to pay, rid the place of their children. The lesson should be, "pay those who

Sunday, Still croaky

My voice is still doing dumb shit so I can't record more chapters for Adorable today. Bum.

I really should track down at least one stylus so I can progress with Pseuducku and better art than the shitty concept doodles I did in Lunacy already.

So my PLN is thus:

  • [X] Write this blog
  • [X] Listen in to Tale Foundry
  • [X] Work on the prompt
  • [ ] Daily tale
  • [ ] Meme in the Fediverse
  • [ ] Archeology [unearth a stylus]

I'm still taking in a lot of
