Challenge #02929-H006: The Trouble With Tails

"I can't do this"

"Yes you can"

"No I can't"

"Stop bitching and just put the fucking pants on" -- Anon Guest

"I keep telling you to hire a tailor with a tail. Your kind always get the tail hole wrong." Viceroy "Loyalty" Merrimine squirmed into the offending clothing. Despite both brother's best efforts, there was the distinct sound of thread snapping. "Damnit..."

His older brother -by twenty minutes, as he kept reminding his twin- sighed and said, "I'll get the sewing kit. You were right. You told me so. Honestly, kids your age can be so childish..."

"Keep digging, brother-dear. It doesn't change the fact that I was right." He grinned a very pointy smile at his brother[1]. "You old codgers never listen to the concerns of the young." Now down to his drawers again, he sat with the offending pants, turning them inside-out and contemplating where he needed to sew and how in order to preserve both dignity and the line of the outfit at the same time.

Sunday, Day Zero, Lazy Day

Twenty-nine total cases, only one of which is new. I'm still nervous about the high number of cases. Paranoia is fun.

I got a LOT achieved yesterday, mostly on the "while you're there" principal. Let's see. In order:

  1. Start bread thawing
  2. Fetch parcel [I now own two copies of the TAZ board game and I don't know how that happened since they didn't ship to Aus when I ordered it]
  3. Cash in bottles and cans at the recycle place [something close to

Challenge #02928-H005: Sdrawkcab Erutnevda

In the world of mirrors, where right is left and up is down. Do not move the hands of time. Walk backwards on the path you taken. Ignore the false eyes that gaze beyond. Only then everything you care for will be safe and sound. -- Anon Guest

I have walked into Rorrim knowing well the hazards. I knew what I had to do. Everything is backwards in Rorrim. It is, after all, the realm of reflection. You go ahead by walking

Saturday, Day Zero, PLNs

I have another parcel waiting for me, and the creeping realisation that I need more stuff than I thought. Today is going to be expensive.

Two of today's three cases are from overseas and the third is "an historic case" according to the QLD Premiere. The news there doesn't say how it's historic and I couldn't see anything about it in the headlines.

The young lass in the news for potentially spreading the plague in Queensland is actually NOT a trouble. She

Challenge #02927-H004: Flight of the Sandman

They were deep into enemy territory, surrounded, lost, and at a massive disadvantage. They were in the valley, their enemies had the hill and it was breezy, though the breeze blew away from them. They could use the sleep powder the havenworlders had invented for their insomnia-riddled human friend, but the climb was steep and they'd get noticed. Then the human had an idea. They made black string and took long strips of black sheets of matte plastic, and then put it

Friday, Day Zero, Bread

Four new cases, taking the count to twenty-seven. They're all overseas cases and the authorities are looking for the daughter of a case who may have been infected during a hospital visit. She might have somehow missed all the PSA's all over the place with pictograms and simple language as part of their design features.

The Repugnicans left their spines at home during the Impeachment vote. Only ten of them actually stood up and admitted their alleged leader was a sack of

Challenge #02926-H003: Risk Assessment Monarchs

The humans were having a rave. The music was old-fashioned techno music as one would hear in the pre-shattering era known as the 1980's and 1990's. The music flashed, many had glow-sticks, the dance floor flashed colors and there were bright, but harmless, laser lights. And a Vorax raiding party, landing on the planet, stumbled into the rave by accident.

Just in case someone's not been to a rave or heard rave music at it's most wild, basically - it's this, but

Thursday, Day Zero, Arts and Farts Time?

Two new cases from overseas, taking the total to twenty-six. We're approaching critical mass for the One Arsehole Theory. There's also a potential for a Karen from across the waters to find a way to bypass security and bring an even more virulent strain into our sunburned land.

Last I heard about things, Queensland -and then the rest of Australia- is reducing the number of people from overseas allowed to come in.

I am enacting some PLNs to get back into arts

Challenge #02925-H002: He Prefers the First Option

Violence is never the answer. But it’s a very effective solution -- Anon Guest

There are two potential results of being the deadliest person in armed or unarmed combat. One is that nobody wants to mess with you. The other, paradoxically, is that everyone wants to mess with you. It's a thing. Once you get a reputation for being the biggest thing in the known universe, everyone who thinks they can be a bigger thing wants to take you on as

Wednesday, Day Zero, New Anthology Who Dis

What I thought of as the last story of 2020 was actually the first story of 2021. At least I was only one story out. And I only had the fail towards the end of the year. Huzzah. My footnotes on the other hand...

I have one hundred and sixty-something footnotes. I've checked them up to the 80's and the count is already out by two. I might have closer to one hundred and seventy-something footnotes. Time will tell.

By the way,

Challenge #02923-G366: Bad at Risk Assessment

"And what brings you to medical, human?"

"I took my particle mask off when I should have left it on. That was, uh, five days ago? I'm pretty sure I've coughed up all the stuff I inhaled, since the phlegm isn't pointy any more, but I'm still coughing, and my lungs itch. I would have waited longer to bother you about it, but I've been kinda short of breath today, so I thought I'd come in before it got any worse." --

Challenge #02922-G365: Danger in Ignorance

It is the modern era. Faerie folk and other such beings are considered nothing but old stories. But, sometimes, stories are real. She was born with the gift to see the supernatural for who they were even if they hid amongst the normal modern world. She could understand their languages no matter how old or obscure it was. And read their words. From the most ancient to the most modern. And yet, as she grew older, she learned this was something handed

Monday, Day Two, Dictator's Fallout

This week, we are watching the debris from 2020 coming to a close. 2020 itself is the debris that is a direct result of 2016. My alarm this morning was We Didn't Start the Fire by Billy Joel and... yeah... Today is the consequences of yesterday. And on and on it goes.

Social media platforms all over the map are cutting off the gigantic orange canker sore living in the Whitehouse. Even the Repugnican party wants to oust him from office. Well.

"don't make deals with a Devil, unless that Devil is me,

Better the devil you know, than the devil you don't,

'coz NOTHING is ever truly free, ALL Devils have a fee!"

Sunday, Day One, Sigh

Twenty-one active cases, but no new infections. Huzzah? Meanwhile, the USA narrowly avoided being on fire by today. The Repugnicans in office attempted to identify the rioters as "antifa", which makes in now officially code for "anyone the right wing finds currently inconvenient". Whoops.

Several arrests have already been made. Turns out that the Capitol police who were off duty were in the rioting crowd. No firkin wonder the ones on duty treated the rioters with kid gloves.

There needs to be
