Learning Things

It's been a learning morning, this morning. I had previously assumed that access for the blind in regards to my works. And, in full ignorance, I claimed that such access was financially impossible.

Turns out that I was a liar.

Blind readers only need a plain text version of my works, and it turns out that italics are completely irrelevant to the blind. Which is something of a bonus because making a special text version of all my older stuff honestly promised to be a thorough pain in my anatomy.

I would have done it if I had to, though. Make no mistake about that.

As an extra bonus, Smashwords, where I publish all of my ebooks, does plain text for free. In the unlikely event that I get professionally published, I can also easily strip my works of Markdown encoding and extra line feeds to supply a version to my agent/publisher and save everyone else a job of work.

That is, when I actually do go pro. I still have hopes out for Adapting, but if it fails the gauntlet, it'll go out anyway via Lulu and Smashwords.

The really nice thing about ebooks is you can adjust the text size for ease of reading, so the vision-impaired would have no trouble and less expense with the ebooks. Bonus for them.

The only downside is that blind readers have to get the full version of my works without being able to download a sample. Though I suppose there is the online reader and assorted read-it-for-you apps for that hurdle.

I love being proved wrong. It gives me an opportunity to learn about stuff and discover things. For instance: There's book sharing facilities for the blind. I need to get in contact with those nice people and find out how an indie author can get their books on their site. It might be an affiliation thing. It might require hoops.

But then, I'm getting better at jumping through hoops. Just as long as it doesn't require money, or I'm kind'a screwed.

Semi-big plns

I'm unfucking Mayhem's room, today, which involves shifting a set of drawers so that random crap doesn't fall between it and the wall ever again. I expect to be suitably ratted by the end of the day.

Especially since this is Wednesday and also Rowing Day.

I definitely have to slow down my writing for a bit of a while, or do voice-to-text (which sucks arse) because my wrists are acting up again. It's possibly a deficiency in something that will likely

Sideways!

I almost forgot to blog here. Can't disappoint my two viewers from a snapshot of my disorganised life.

Yesterday, we packed up and then shifted out a HUGE amount of ex-clothing. From too small, to too large, to just plain too many... we got rid of it all. And it's an immense relief to have that noise the hell out of my house.

Decluttering is hard work for a hoarder. But it also has the benefit of adding a larger fasting window

I have half an hour...

And 90% of my shit is definitely not done. Thanks to a very busy weekend, there's crap on the counter that should have been put away, stuff that should have been washed, and a fine layer of dust from when I haven't wiped it all down.

And I have half an hour to make a story happen or y'all have to wait until the afternoon.

Thanks to a visit to Mum-in-law, I have asthma creeping up on me. She's very much anti-keto

I get the kids back today

So that's a long-arse trip there and back with a non-ketogenic lunch from the mum-in-law who just doesn't understand how evil carbs are.

At least we had a nice breakfast.

Owing to a comedy of errors, we didn't have the salmon last night, so I cooked it up this morning. You can check out how it looks over on my Instagram. Delicious. Even though I followed the instructions, the skin didn't turn out crispy at all. Not complaining too hard though.

Adventure Morning

Beloved is shuttling off to work, this afternoon, so this morning was full of together time, which included a shopping spree. We now have a new omelette pan and socks and jocks and other nice things.

Including some salmon for dinner. Yum.

I'm also running out of time to put G-Whiz in shot #4 of SESP, so now I have to decide what I'm doing instead of adding it. I'm thinking Grandfather Clock.

For the rest of today, I have a lot

I can do this... I think

Friday's a big day for me, now. Huge. Some things have to wait and it's usually the stuff that involves copying and pasting.

Today's agenda:

  • Blog
  • Schedule my Blasts From the Past
  • Instant Story
  • 1000 words for the novel
  • Patreon thing
  • FOUR HOURS OF CLEANING [with potential for more asthma. Huzzah.]

Ever since I let myself relax with WordPress, it's been slightly easier for me, but there's still the guilt if I don't get every little thing done.

And I know I

Well. That was educational

Drove down towards the more mountainous areas of Brisbane so we could climb some equally mountainous stairs and sign some important documents so we can have an investment property.

With good luck and no further housing bubbles, Beloved and I should never have to go begging to the government for a retirement stipend that nobody could live on anyway. Which is the way the government prefers it.

Giving people a stipend? Pshaw! They could play with that money. Better that older people

Slow to start

I really knocked myself sideways, yesterday. On the plus side, the laundry is a hell of a lot cleaner. On the minus side - I got whacked with the Asthma Truck.

It was the most severe attack that I've had since before I got onto Ketogenics.

Two doses of Atrovent and one of those with 5ml of saline to loosen things up. Plus a good hour staying away from further pathogens... and I was relatively fine. Note the qualifier.

I'm still having

Time is limited. Let's procrastinate!

I have until nine-ish to do as much writing stuff as possible. So of course, I'm distracted by Bunny Bennett's arting this morning and a whole bunch of other random crap. Because time limits make me think of doing anything other than the things I'm meant to do.

Writer stuff I pretty much have to do:

  • This blog (duh)
  • Schedule the next three Blasts From the Past
  • Instant Story
  • 500 words in the novel
  • Find and put up a thing for my

Finding a New Swing

Getting into the swing of things has always been a major league hurdle for me. Holidays are when I drop one of the balls I have flying about and stop arting. However, my current project is inspiration enough to make me want to art. Finding the time is the problem.

My entire schedule normally revolves around the kids. Kids who are now in Scenic Coominya for some time-share with their Grandmother. So the time I reserve for arting - waiting for Miss

Flying Wuzgunnas

My best-laid plans go agley so regularly that I have a term for it. Wuzgunna. As in, I wuzgunna do that, but something else intervened.

  • Wuzgunna visit MeMum, but she said don't because lurgi
  • Wuzgunna write a long thinkpiece, but I slept on my wrist wrong and have to be careful with myself
  • Wuzgunna go out shopping for a few things, but now I can't be arsed.

As you can see, a Wuzgunna can have any range of things that stop it

Abrupt change of plns

I had little more exciting planned for today than taking Mayhem to EB Games and then finding a comfy seat for an hour or two while Mayhem went all over that shop like a rash and making up his dang mind.

But the best laid plans of me are gang aft agley.

Capt S. wants the grandkids TODAY, so that means running around, a four-hour round trip, and possibly another stop in Boronia Heights to deliver a care package to MeMum.

And

Can I find time?

I have given myself a mountain to chip away.

  • A mountain of laundry
  • A mountain of cleaning
  • A mountainous amount of writing about things
  • And of course the usual day-to-day stuff that clogs my schedule.

There's a thing to learn about at Chaos' school, which is going to steal time from my other shit, and I have loads of stuff.

And I still need time to recharge.

Today is going to be "fun". Story is going to be late. I'm very busy.

We saw the latest Transformers movie

Beloved is a fan of some really unfortunate stuff. Alas, alack.

And because Michael Bay's stuff is so damn forgettable, I gave myself the task of counting every single blatant boob shot in the film, or when a female character's body got otherwise sexualised on screen. Thanks to Bay's love of Pervy Cam, I counted fifty nine shots where either of the two female characters were sexualised.

And this included a (clearly) underaged girl. She got six tittie shots and an uncounted
