Realm of the InterNutter

Thoughts, stories and ideas.

Monday, Backup Reads and PLNs

Mayhem has switched to straight ginger ale. I might have to do another crate run for that at a later point in time. Possibly when I'm also doing the run for cold hard folding to include in the gifts for Mayhem and Chaos.

It's not going to be a lot of cold hard folding, alas. Hopefully enough to cover at least one frivolous indulgence.

I've taken an inventory of my inanimate objects and I definitely have enough for my purposes. I might pick up some festive serviettes at a dollar shop, the next time I roam.

For the moment, I am pulling my head in. The NBN people are coming tomorrow. I could not get hold of the requisite tradie to do the pathing stuff.

I'm screaming internally about this bit.

In a few hours, I'll be hanging out with my writer's group and talking stories.

Daily offerings as always. Today, I may have time to test my fixes for Pseuducku, and write a passage or two in A Devil's Tale.

I'm feeling good about today.

Challenge #04361-K343: Executive Three Card Monte

The CEO was as evil as they came, so it would seem. They called the ones in the factories, "machines". But when Pax Humanis found them, they were caring for their children lovingly, and the young children also called the ones in the factories machines. Didn't the CEO, or the kids actually know the ones there were people? -- Anon Guest

Sunday, No Game Because Lurgi

When I woke up at 4AM today, it hurt to talk. I'm resting up and keeping the fluids going. I also got a heads-up about not pressing a vital button, so a past story is out of order. Whoopsie.

I have to remember to check that I have hit the publish button. It's not always easy when my head is full of gluck.

I'm going to get my offerings out and chill for the rest of the day. Even though I haven't

Challenge #04359-K341: Not Touched by Human Hands

This restaurant had the reputation of being one of the best, and the most adaptive, places around. The fact it was owned, and ran, by kobolds surprised many that didn't know them. The head chef is quite an interesting kobold indeed. -- Anon Guest

Food, everyone agrees, is the foundation of life. What everyone disagrees with is how preparation and preservation should be done. Everyone points at other peoples and declares that they're doing it wrong. Cultural cross-contamination has spread many methods

Challenge #04360-K342: Flight of the Unwelcome

Moving day for such a huge household is SO much easier when you're friends with a wizard, and a dragon is willing to play with the littlest ones while everyone else is packing. -- The New Guy

It's never easy to be a surprise parent. Bliss appointed himself as suprise parent to a dozen pitiful lives on one harsh stormy night. He managed to pick up five more in the process of seeing to the needs

Saturday, Parkrun, Progress, and Pain

The good news is... I made it over 3/4s of the way through the whole 5K before I needed my cane to help me make it all the way there.

It's sweltering hot, out there, so my brunch this time included ice cream.

As for progress... after two weeks of too busy, too sick, and too disorganised - I finished one chapter of A Devil's Tale.

Trust me. This is a massive cheev.

As for the pain -well- the heel that

Friday, Shaking it off.

The entire house has Lurgi. Mayhem's got a stomach upset to go with the runny nose, clogged sinuses, and general lack of energy.

I'm... mostly okay. The head fog is terrible. It's like a sneak peek into living with dementia. Words have been escaping me, I've had to wait for the loading screen to get to 100% before I remember why I entered a room. I spent a majority of yesterday reminding myself to get petrol and then forgetting to do that

Challenge #04358-K340: The Love Delusion

Never get between a team of rough and tumble space marines and the kids they are caring for. You WILL lose, and it WILL hurt. -- Anon Guest

[AN: Content warning for the perspective of the exact kind of person who'd kidnap a literal child as 'breeding stock'. Spoilers - he doesn't prosper]

It's a dangerous mission, to save my princess. It's a risk well worth the reward. She was promised to me, and I will have her. I will crawl if

Thursday, PLNs in Process

I finally had an affordable idea of what to give the folks I love this year. Yay. Small amount of shopping to do, a little ingredient hunting, but otherwise I'm confident about the yuletide celebrations. Huzzah.

I had to figure out which of my prompt stable was Hollidays-branded and then I came up with a bunch more. Thanks, Archive. Now I have way more in my stable than before.

Challenge #04357-K339: Lost in Multiple Ways

Mr Sunshine and Jay were at the shopping center when a very elderly human was looking lost and confused. But when touched gently and asked if they were okay, they lashed out violently with terror in their eyes. Dementia is a terrible thing. -- Anon Guest

Wednesday, Rant due, but Lurgi

I don't know about doing anything extra today. If I do put up something, it'll probably be about home remedies. Because I can share something about that with minimal thought.

...and speaking of minimal thought, Satisfactory is running its Ficsmas event and there is little more fun than running around an alien world, scooping up falling presents, and listening to the in-game AI chide you about wasting time.

It's very tempting, not going to lie.

So is crawling back to bed.

Challenge #04356-K338: To Change...

Oh great wizard, my one dream was to have children. But this illness has robbed me of the chance. My home is large, as is my land, what do I do now? I just want a family. Please help me? -- Anon Guest

"There's nothing that can be done to reverse catching swellneck as an adult," sighed Wraithvine. "Short of praying for a miracle, there's only one option."

"Which is?" prompted the Lady Derisdranya.

Tuesday, Home Remedies and Recovering

Adorable sent me some supplies, yesterday, and I began with mixing up some Shandy. Today, I've set up some Ginger Garlic Chicken Soup. It's brewing in the slow cooker as I type. I might be making some rice to go with because digestive issues.

I'm still focussing on getting enough rest and fluids.

As for symptoms, the running nose is technically slowing down, but I'm still sneezing myself hoarse, coughing myself dizzy, and nursing the headache from hell.

Hoping the painkillers kick

Challenge #04355-K337: Only Looks Harmless

Never underestimate a little girl with a dolly, and a grudge. -- Anon Guest

The trick, as one great philosopher once wrote, was to skip everywhere. It fooled everyone completely. Ribbons and ringlets may help with that, but so too does frilly clothing. And pink. Lots and lots of pink.

And it really did work.

Nobody saw her coming. It was easy to be overlooked. Who could suspect a little girl with a violently pink dress and an equally pink dolly? Not

Monday, Lurgi'd and Bread

I did not bake bread yesterday. I kind of have to do that today. I may be doing so at a rate slower than an arthritic snail.

But there will be bread. "Twice proofed" since it spent 24hours in the fridge rather than 8-12.

The first loaf is incubating while the oven preheats and the Dutch Oven gets heat sunk into it. I have everything lined up for the inevitable bake.

I'm keeping up my fluids and planning a lot of rest.
