That Went Well

Here's my yesterday:

  • Attempt to get little darlings organised and pointed at school
  • Mayhem complains of gutsache and throws up
  • Book doctor's appointment and call school for Mayhem
  • Get Chaos off to school minus hitch
  • Do a cash run
  • Have five minutes to self before running Mayhem up to the doctor's
  • Hurry up and wait
  • Get recommendation for a CT scan (!) after bounce test doesn't give encouraging results
  • Paperwork
  • Hurry home to do what work I can in the interim
  • Rush off again to run Mayhem up for CT scan
  • Hurry up and wait: The Revenge
  • Interminable farting around for the actual process thereof
  • Paperwork part 2
  • Home again
  • Cleaning
  • Chaos Returns Triumphant
  • Fucking afternoon stock up shopping centre crawl [Costco, Golden Circle Outlet, Dickson's Meat Market (for veggies), and the local Health Shop] each for things available nowhere else.
  • Finally, dinner.

It's no wonder that I didn't get a lot down in my nut notes, yesterday.

Good thing that Clockwork Souls has given me ample space to relax about that kind of thing. A week's worth of world-building can give me options for the actual plot and characters.

And I already have the prep done for word count tracking:

[Shown here: Blue post-it note on my monitor with numbers counting up by 3 until they reach 120. Following this sequence are the words "DONE" and "B'Nar". On the bottom left corner are a couple of scribbles made because of temporary pen failure. The number 69 has a tiny "nice" circled above it]

This is my high-tech uncrackable solution for making certain I'm on schedule. As each total is reached [3K, 6K etc.] I cross off the number. When the book is done, I throw out the post-it. That finality should happen early next year.

Today's schedule includes more rattling about. This time with sick notes and a quest for almond milk and the relative carb count thereof. I might have to think of other options to have myself a lo-carb hot chocolate.

Because the weather is cold and Chaos needs a little help going to sleep in the evenings and I need a hand-warmer that's also a pick-me-up. That's why.

Oh, for a USB warm air blower that can be trained on my keyboard...

Just Another Maniac Monday

Mayhem threw up. Sigh. Which means he gets a free trip to the doctor's and I get more running around than I should be due.

I don't have to do the brat run, but I do have to get cashola [and sort out my squirrelings] and some fresh veggies. And since shepherd's pie was the one thing that Mayhem didn't throw up during the week, some more of that noise.

And I'm fresh out of sheep mince. I shall have to find

Tomorrow and Tomorrow

Tomorrow, I have to make certain my little darlings are off to their respective schools. Tomorrow, I am cleaning up the massive mess of post-shepherd's-pie and post-roast kitchen apocalypse. Tomorrow, I begin sorting out what the flakk this years' novel is about.

This is a first for me. I honestly threw B'Nar into the mix because it was another B-name planet that could be fun to play with. Welp. Now I'm about to have fun.

I stood in this swamp and now

BEEF!

We just paddled up to the organic butcher's and got ourselves half a cow. An entire cardboard box of which is full of 500g baggies of mince.

We'll have fun gnawing that lot down to nothing. And in the meantime, we have a lot of steak and chops. And approximately seven kilos of mince. Whoops.

Given that my little darlings and I have put a dent in six kilos of chicken thighs, this past week, I don't think it's that much of

Last of Lateness Luxury

School will be happening again on Monday. Which means I have to get my little darlings back on something resembling a schedule during this weekend.

Fun times.

I maintain the joy of slobbing around in my slobwear whenever I can, though. I anticipate getting dressed long about 2PM so I can collect Mayhem from his place of traineeship.

And after that? I dunno.

My dream self has been visiting my maternal grandfather of late. It's weird that I can remember my past

Late!

Today's delay was caused by Beloved being a fluff-head. They wanted to check on Factorio, and I just had to check with them by some kind of mutual telepathy or something.

It's a cleaning day, today, so today's story may well be later than usual. Fingers crossed, I get there anyway, but... my brain is now set on 'wannaplay'. Thanks, Beloved.

Loyal visitors to my Patreon will note that I've switched things up a smidge in anticipation of even more books that

...sigh...

While the cat's away, the mice will play. And my little mice have been up to some major league malarky.

Miss Chaos decided that my 10ml syringe, that I use for measuring the saline for Max, was a chew toy.

Mayhem decided to spend $130 worth of extra bandwidth overnight.

So yes, I am a little shirty with my darlings today. And have sent them up to the local shops - on foot - to spend their money on the thing Miss

Tech Support Duty

MeMum's having issues with technical stuff again, so I'm leaving the kids with a freezer load of chicken and mutton and the grill press to fill their bellies with warm spicy meats. They definitely know how to thaw and grill a steak. And they certainly know how to eat way more than an adult portion.

Growth streaks are coming. I'm certain of it.

Miss Chaos has up and decided that she doesn't like fish. This shortly after we served her some. Well,

Welp...

[Shown here: Screen shot of a generic and completely unhelpful rejection letter. Text reads: "Dear Author, Thank you for your email, and for giving me a look at your material. Unfortunately, I'm afraid I must pass, but I hope you will accept my best wishes for your future success."]

There goes my last hope.

Before I pick myself up and do my Robin Daffy impersonation, I will give myself a couple of days to figure out what the actual shit I can

MUTTON!

When I was a kid, you could get mutton everywhere. For those poor babies who don't know what flavour is, mutton is a full-grown sheep's meat. It completely mystifies me as to why everyone wants random lamb a-ding-dong, because mutton has a rich flavour that should be experienced.

And since Australia flourished on the sheep's back at the time, you could not only get mutton for cheap, but there were also plenty of sources of a thing called 'hogget'. Which is Olde

Done, Done, Done, Done, Done, Done...

Today's title comes from this lovely tune which suits me to a T today. I am DONE.

I finished Clockwork Souls yesterday, and I just now got it converted to assorted formats for interested beta readers.

Loyal readers of this particular blog can read/comment on the docx version here if they so choose.

I've enabled commenting in all formats in the Clockwork Souls folder on my Google drive.

Not that I expect much action from this. But I will be looking

Set Your Timers

My car is going in for a service at 10 today. That gives me a little less than three hours to get my shit together, and in the middle of trying to write this post, I got this bullshit:

[Shown here: Error message over an empty post titled (Untitled), message reads "Are you sure you want to delete this post?" and in a smaller font, "You're about to delete "(Untitled)". This is permanent! No backups, no restores, no magic undo button. We

Finishing Season

Seems to be the time of year for finishing stuff up. I'm 1500 words away from the end of Clockwork Souls and I've just-last-night reached an ending for my fanfic, Crime and Punishment.

I'm going to ponder which fanfic I'm doing next because I can't not write. There's a few juicy ideas I have excerpts for. I just need to pick the shiniest one.

Announcements when that happens, of course.

Today's another cleaning day, and having our new toy means that all

I think I got it now...

I'm into the swing of eating mostly protein. And my bod's still getting used to the change. I may have overdone the "energy" portion of my fodder last night because, dangit, I needed a treat after the run-around I got in finally posting yesterday's instant.

It went a little something like this:

  • Write story according to schedule
  • Attempt to merge in picture
  • 504 error apparently obliterates story
  • P A N I C !
  • Cursing
  • Realise that story is potentially lost forever and I

'Tis Tuesday, I must Patreon

The kitchen has been unfucked, and with some good fortune, I may be able to convince my little darlings to put away the clean stuff once they're conscious.

Of course they've fallen into the holiday mindset of staying up as late as possible and sleeping in as long as possible. It's the holidays. I'm only awake because I literally can't sleep past 5AM.

That said, I'm in my "not going anywhere" ensemble of Kigurumi and toe socks with optional uggs.

And because
