Challenge #04292-K274: Lending a Hand

The cave-in was pretty severe. The worst part was, magic was risky in this region. Lilbit had managed to squeeze out through cracks. Surprisingly, tail in the air all smug, Cat returned, with the sound of anxious diggers to be heard outside the cave. -- Anon Guest

Wudzgaad are the oddities of Faekindred. They can walk between worlds with but a thought. They never ask for names because they don't see the need for them. They go about their business and remain largely undisturbed by life as it's lived by others.

Call this one... Branch.

She was communing with the bumblebees when the cat came scurrying up to her. A luxuriously fluffy and pampered pet, howling in anguish. Tail high. She could recognise a friendly soul, and knew that Wudzgaad could easily speak with animals.

Monday, Configuring the Jiggery-pokery

There's a certain illogic to what I'm doing on Mayhem's work days. It works very well in theory, but the practice leaves something wanting.

The problem: I would normally spend four hours just driving hither and thither to get Mayhem to work and then back again.

The wrinkle: He can apply for early time off now that they don't need him, since the rush season has petered off.

The solution: He applies for early time off [E-Time] whilst I enjoy breakfast and

Challenge #04291-K273: A Chance at Mortal Redemption

A very old angel, and an ancient demon, both sat together talking, watching the peoples. Seeing how the humans treat the children born to them simply for looking like their ancient ancestors, saddened them.

"Even we demons know this is wrong."

They are human and have free will.

"Doesn't mean it's not wrong."

In that, at least, we very much agree. -- Anon Guest

[AN: Reminder that I am trying my soul to whispers in keeping my stories OUTSIDE of fandom spaces.

Sunday, Day of Rest

I'm taking it easy today, and I think I've earned the breather.

I'm putting minimal effort into A Devil's Tale today, and doing my mandatory dailies. And then I am slagging off until bedtime.

Given all the furforal I've been doing all week, and the furforal I'm going through next week... I deserve a little time for self-indulgent pursuits.

Next week, I resume the grand endless runaround.

Challenge #04290-K272: There's a Moral Somewhere

The sacrificial one was shoved into the chamber, the door behind them sealed. The gods demanded this, if they disobeyed, the city would be destroyed. The youngster, shakingly, put their hand on the door. "Shhhh, what the elders don't know won't hurt the rest of us. Let's go." -- Anon Guest

For centuries, it had maintained peace. In the town, there was a temple dedicated to the Established Order. The temple, partially carved into a mountain, had a portal that people only

Saturday, Parkrun in the Rain

Wet weather. Such fun. Even more fun is having a foot that absolutely hates you with a passion. I had to bust out my cane just to make it the whole five kilometers.

And then it was a question of which hurt more - my foot or my wrist because of firkin course my entire dang body is falling the flakk apart.

At least I'm seeing someone about the nonsense in my feet this coming Tuesday. Thereafter I should at least have

Challenge #04289-K271: The Wanderer's Guide

An immortal elf meets the much better known immortal elf. Wariness, tenseness, then laughter and talks of old times at a table with drinks and introductions of friends. -- Anon Guest

The problem with being immortal and ageless is having to move to a new country every five to eight hundred years. Well. It is if you're an Elf. Humans have it worse, having to shift residences every decade or so. Some just surrender and live a life on the road.

Friday, Rain Interference "Fun"

It's raining. Which means my internet access is shit. Which means that anything I do online will be slower than molasses.

JUST in time for me to try learning how to make buttons in GameMaker. Yay.

All the running back and forth, the missed connections and other nonsense has me very frazzled and stressed and needing intimate haptic feedback. Alas, the rest of the QPP is far, far away and out of my range for firkin weeks on end.

Sigh.

I feel

Pseuducku: Button Layout Mockup

Now that decisions have been made about the look of some things, now we're looking at how the buttons go and in which order.

This is not an interactive experience

This exists to make aesthetic choices

I feel like I have to keep putting that up until I have something that's actually interactive.

Some significant time after I made the initial mockups, I realised that I needed way more buttons than I initially created in the BS version. So. Version 1 (immediately

Challenge #04288-K270: Respected Priorities

Pax Humanis makes a deal with the deadly Lucker. They will not monitor them as they monitor others, and the Lucker only has to wear "the colors" when in Alliance areas. Their life, and travels, are their own.

https://peakd.com/fiction/@internutter/challenge-04188-k170-kill-list -- Anon Guest

What I don't like about Pax Humanis is their insistence on control. The other killers in there tolerate it. They know they're dangerous and they actually care about the health and wellbeing of the innocent.

Thursday, I owe, I owe...

I owe y'all a rant entry for Weird Writer Wednesday. I might do a thing about being a very amateur game designer and the journey to create Pseuducku so far. Mostly because I haven't had the time to sit back and think about what else to recommend the larger world.

What has been on my mind is the processes I must go through in order to do the seemingly simplest thing for the game I'm making. My trials and tribulations, the delays,

Challenge #04287-K269: Truly Heroic

Tell me, my student.... what is the difference between a TRUE Hero, and the person many just call a hero?

"I don't know, sir."

It is their heart. For a True Hero does not seek fame or fortune. They do not seek to harm others, no matter what they appear. Their only desire is to aid others whenever possible, and the knowledge they could help be their only reward.

The ones far too many tend to call 'hero'.... are usually far too

Wednesday, Working on the Road Again

On Monday, I barely got a story started before Mayhem turned up again. Technical issues prevented work from happening.

Can't work with the system if the system is down.

Yesterday, my plns to help with MeMum's printer were foxed on the starter blocks by another system going down.

Can't unfuck an electrical device without electricity.

I didn't get to sleep until after midnight. It's going to be a fun day today. Guaranteed early bedtime tonight.

But at least I get breakfast and

Challenge #04286-K268: For the Safety of Others

Those that discriminate against the unwanted races in this nation take a page from the lands of Whitekeep. They are not killed, instead sent to a large school where they are forced to learn about whom it is they hate. And the worst part is? The bracelets they must wear. Until they "graduate", they are no longer capable of telling any lies, especially, not to themselves. Kids are easy to teach lessons of kindness, respect, and diversity, it's the older teens and

Tuesday, Severe Change of PLNs

Mum's Tech Support Day is going to have to happen next week because this week, the electricity people are blacking out her entire suburb. Yay.

Which means I have time for:

  • Patreon posts
  • Audio recordings
  • At least one Pseuducku mockup
  • And of course the daily nonsense.

I still have to write anything anywhere and I think I'll be going easy on myself and enjoying the slack time. Not stressing. Going with the mood. Maybe not entirely phoning it in, but not going
