Time enough?

I'm pretty close to fixing the last bits of this Year of Instants, so that means time for me to faff around with whatever I please. In this case, it may mean finally catching up with the TAZ Fic Writers' Discord.

Or it may mean (gasp) working on a stalled fanfic!

Or it may mean doing the Patreon/Wordpress stuff a li'l earlier. Who knows? I'll see where I am when I get there.

Progress on the lectin-free diet is... suspicious. Good news is that you can eliminate most of the lectins in no-no stuff by pressure cooking them, BUT you also have to remove the skins. It all sounds like guano to me, and the only real "benefit" is an absence of inflammation. Which I already had with the keto.

I dunno about this, Yogi.

It all seems unnecessarily complicated, IMO.

Today, after I'm done with today's Instant, I'm off to Costco to get some of that Garlic Aoli I firkin love.

I may or may not fall into temptation whilst there. Depends on what they have. Now that we have a pressure cooker, I'm kind of itching to play with it. Except, tonight my Beloved is making hamburgers.

Whatever. I'll sort things out when I get to there.

Challenge #02125-E296: Inside, Outside

two cats discovering their owner has a secure cat enclosure instead of letting them roam free -- Anon Guest

It was a good life. Thingone and Thingtwo agreed. Plenty of warm spaces. Lots of nice food. Halls to have a good rumpus up and down. Furniture, especially, to scramble up, down, into, out of, and under. The only thing missing was the world outside the windows. No matter how they howled and yowled to be allowed to play with the birds, their

Good News, Bad News

Good news: We have paid for a split system air conditioner, like we've been gassing about since we were building the house.

Bad news: It cost more than I anticipated to spend and is going to cost Beloved even more so because installation has to happen via a qualified electrician. So installation of said air con is happening sometime soonish.

Good news: I have a summer haircut.

Bad news: Which also cost more than we anticipated.

The best news is that it

Challenge #02124-E295: Hello Darkness

I did this. I don't remember doing it, but it cannot be otherwise.

I have committed sins in my life before. I even killed a man once who didn't deserve it.

But this is different. I am changed.

These murders were not my choice. A Beast lives inside of me.

I will be hunted and shunned. I need to hide. Run. Bury the bodies.

I start to walk outside when I realize what truly bothers me...

...I feel no guilt. -- Anon

Fixing Finalising

I finally fixed the true count of all my Instants, yesterday, so now I'm moving on to this Year of Instants to make sure the chapter headings are all good, the footnote count is okay, and the spelling is on point.

I may do five a day, or go as far as ten a day. I'll see how much time it eats.

This weekend's twenty-four hours' carb feast involved two cheesecakes! French Vanilla and Flaked Chocolate. Eaten with boysenberry or chocolate ice

Challenge #02123-E294: I Can't See My House From Here

A combined research team of a number of species of the galaxy invents a device that is capable of accelerating any object to significant portions of C, the human member of the team proceeds to be a human. -- Anon Guest

The breakthrough came, as breakthroughs often do, by accident. One person noticed that the interference on their experimental quantum computer was too regular to be just interference. The paired electrons weren't merely paired. They were grouped. They were grouped with other

I'm gonna do it...

Nice Mr Taxman has given me an unexpected $2K so I am using this opportunity to visit Good Guys and get my office a firkin air conditioner. Reverse cycle window thing because apparently you need a pro to install a split system, but if you get a window one, you can install it yourself. Provided you have enough muscle.

Good news: I can get one that heats and cools if I want to.

Better news: I may be able to get Beloved

Friday Fuck-Around

Today's Friday, it's promising to be blisteringly hot in the office and I am thinking hard about digging into my compy fund to get air conditioning in my office rather than my current routine of retreating to the bedroom and accidentally aestivating.

It's the opposite of hibernating. Look it up.

This morning, I am Mayhem's transit manager. AKA, I'm getting him down to the station on time. Which means Beloved is left with the task of making sure Chaos gets on the

Challenge #02115-E292: A Roadmap to Neverthere

"Look, the directions are simple; go down that way, and turn left on Thursday." -- Anon Guest

Navigation is difficult in realms where time is nonlinear. In the fractured temporal core of Lymnaal, directions are almost meaningless as well. One can walk away from a point, steps never wavering, and meet oneself coming the other way. There are places bordered by red paint. It is wise never to set a foot there.

Yet people still operate in this broken place. People are

Another Week Nearly Done

It's Thursday, and I am going to be busy. Cleaning day, Instant, Words, and a TAZ prompt over in my Tumblr.

I have so many of these things, I'm tempted to write up a set sig with linkages to my Ko-fi, Patreon, and this blog. The problem being that Tumblr doesn't always accept pasting links.

My exhaustion problem is more or less solved. I've been having too much fat and not enough protein, so no more pork belly for me.

However, I

Ship's human and the Anti Gravity Drive keep company. -- Anon Guest

[AN: It's the Gravity Drive, but I get it]

This drive was one of the loners. It did not need constant Nae'hyn attention to do its work. It knew the route better than the Captain. It got family visits, of course, but Human Gar kind'a felt in kindred with it. Human Gar had took this particular mail route because it met her needs for social contact - otherwise known as

It's Wednesday and I'm a dummins

I don't have a pre-arranged topic for this Wordpress Wednesday, so I have to think one up before I can post one, I guess. I could plausibly do How My Brain Allegedly Works or My Routine Is Not Your Routine. Or something about how my battery is still low despite all my efforts to charge it.

I'll find something to bitch about, and maybe get a couple of pages out of it.

Maybe I could gas about Murder Dollhouse again, since that

Challenge #02113-E290: Simple Communication

"I said no!"

"You said yeah!"

"Are you insane? I said yeah, nah! That means NO!!" -- Anon Guest

"Are you insane?" asked Gork. "That is not a clear means of communicating a positive or a negative."

Human Baz glared down at the little alien in her care. "It's perfectly understandable to everybody," she said.

Gork flinched at yet another explosion. "Not to this somebody," he said. "We look for affirmation or negation first. We do not wait for further elucidation."

I'm having a day

There's a thing on today about the NDIS, what you need to know, and all that blabla. Since both my kids have a mental disability, I have to learn things like:

  1. Where the bar is set on "disabled". Like, whether or not autism counts.
  2. If autism does count, can adults get in on it?
  3. How much is this going to cost me?

Meanwhile, I also have an Instant, the Patreon posts, my usual word count, and three -count'em- three TAZ prompts in
