Health Update

A 59-post collection

Unriddling

New med schedules are kicking my arse. Sure, I get a good night's sleep, but afterwards is the buttnugget.

I've figured out that light levels are linked to the amount of awareness I have during the day. Too much or too little, and the groggy, foggy feeling returns in abundance. Just the right amount, and I'm 'clear' while that light lasts.

And I'm currently writing this with a light in my face. Care of the same light I used to illuminate myself during the making of that makeup video of mine.

I'm still distractible, but at least I have clarity of thought and can plausibly function close to normal.

And in other news: today we get paid! So that means I can finally go snag myself that phone case I designed that shows my nerditry for SPG but doesn't actually give SPG any money because they don't do phone cases.

The instant they do, I'll get one. No mistake. And I have every intention to get myself some official SPG merch. It's just that postal fees are a little tiny bit heinous. And getting anything from overseas is a crapshoot -_-

I'm running the same risk with the phone case, but... you know. One anxiety at a time.

As a side-effect, there is an almost epic disinterest in doing the house maintenance stuff. Having energy to do things is different from having the energy to write or think.

Either way, I'm pretty sure that my Serotonin dose needs to be cut in half. I get to chat about that on the same day that I might just get the bandages off my wound for once and for all.

Fine tuning firkin sucks.

Dialling it down

Working out the right time in the evening to take my Serotonin is currently the problem. Juggling that and getting ready for the morning with a foggy, sleepy brain is still a problem.

But, through a process of trial and error, and error, and more error, I will eventually hit the solution by pure accident. The key, I'm sure, is taking the Serotonin at the correct hour.

And while I'm getting the hour correct, I have to deal with brain fog for

Plus la change...

Three stitches are gone, but the wound is still fragile. For those who dont follow my tumblr, the blip was a cyst, likely fatty, and entirely benign.

I have a new bandage over the site and a desperate need to scratch it because the damn thing is driving me bonkers. New bandage has to stay for a week. Bluh.

BUT I can shower as long as I pat it dry. Huzzah.

The good news about the Muppet is that some nice folks

Getting (slowly) better

I had the first good sleep that I can remember since forever. I was actually able to get back to sleep after needing to get up to pee during the wee small hours. [Darn rosemary tea before bedtime] and I'm feeling less 'foggy' than previously.

The only side effect is a slight clogging of the airways that could easily be Sneezin' and Wheezin' Season up to its usual tricks. It feels like I'm breathing through a straw. Only the straw is inside

Achievement Unlocked

The plastics cupboard has had all its non-essential and extra-cluttering items removed! Hooray. Now, if we should ever need more than three large or medium Systema sealing articles, we can toddle up to the shed and fetch them. I mean, we have HUGE amounts of plastic containers.

Now, we need no more.

Still on the agenda is the pots cupboard and the gizmos cupboard. The least-use doohickeys will head shed-wards, but the other stuff for pots and pans might be an issue

Sick Games I play

That is, games I play when I'm sick.

Like: "Is it really this cold, or am I feverish?"
Or: "Am I tired from virus fighting or depression?"
Or: "What dose do I really need?"
Or: "Should I be worried about this symptom?"

And my personal favourite: The Keeping Your Fluids Up 10 Metre Dunny Dash.

Three guesses what got me up at 2:30AM today?

Yeah. Illness has means of getting us down. One way or another.

So now game #2 is

Round, round, I'm run around...

Welcome to the Last Mad Dash, the final 80Km relay in the Cosplay 2016.

Today, I am taking my admittedly limited funds to Spotlight to get the best look material for Bitzer's capelet. It has to be warm, because night-time temperatures in Tucson head to the single figures, it has to be woven, because MeMum can't pilot an overlocker, it has to look pretty nice, because Bitzer's a robot with standards, and it has to be cheap because I'm almost broke.

We're having "fun"

It seems like Mayhem's medication only really worked for one night. I found out why when I looked at the packet - it only works for kids aged 9 to 12. Mayhem is 14.

So we're seeing the doctor again about getting something to help him sleep. After I see the doctor about getting something to help me breathe.

Meanwhile, the fun and games he used to get "to keep him awake" is not happening, today. I figure if the motivation goes,

Finally! Sleep!

Mayhem and I have had restless nights for a majority of the week, but for different reasons. Me, because not being able to breathe tends to wake me up. And Mayhem because something, somewhere went agley and he couldn't sleep.

Medical science is still trying to find out why it went agley in the first place.

The medication finally recommended by the doctors has worked enough to give him five hours of actual rest. Yay. I recommended some meditation stuff and white

Stupid diet tip that gets results [at least for me]

Beloved gave me a diet tip the other day: Drink two glasses of water before eating any meal.

I immediately thought: This is bullshit. I'm going to try it and prove that it's bullshit.

There's no way that two glasses of water [roughly half a litre if you're going with a 250ml glass] would do anything beneficial towards losing weight whilst upkeeping health. I know for a fact that many diet plans (coughcoughatkinscoughcough) are focussed exclusively on losing weight rather than maintaining

Good news, everyone!

The cat is free of the Cone of Shame! Kaloo, kalay, etc.

She still has to stay indoors for another fortnight, just to be certain that she's healed. And we have to apply eye drops.

Better news - we can use human eye drops with no harm to the cat.

Fantastic news - we managed to get all the supplies we need for less than $50. And by "less than", I mean that I got pocket change back.

How to wash a cat's face and other random problems

It's 6:30AM, the temperature in my office is already a balmy 27.5 degrees [82 old school] and Mayhem is not doing so great.

There was upchuck, last night. Which Mayhem thoughtfully allowed to dry. And owing to a scheduling problem, Beloved was not available to help me swab all the scabs off of the cat's eye.

Chaos is being her usual sweet self and doing her star-quality Lump Impersonation instead of looking after herself. I've actually had to tell her

My humblest of apologies...

internutter:

Today’s story may well be my last.

Not for lack of prompts. I have lots of prompts.

Not for lack of sales. I would do this even if my own mother never purchased a story.

It’s nothing you did or omitted. I promise.

It’s this fucking wrist. I did some damage to myself [NEVER SLEEP WITH ELASTIC ‘SOCK’ BRACER/BANDAGES ON, KIDDIES!] and I need to take a break from writing.

If you need me, I shall be
