Tuesday, Patreon and Urgent Shopping

I owe my patrons a few things, starting with the five chapters' audio I was trying to record when my tower borked in the first place.

I'll be recording those very, very soon.

The good news is that most of a chapter I was recording at implosion is still there! I just need to loop in half a sentence and then, as Jukebox the Ghost sang, I am off to the races.

I also need to go fetch a new cable to charge my phone overnight and that's going to steal some time from everything else. But it will also let me restock my fish oil pills so I will take that marginal win.

I'll be going on that venture after the second loaf has begun proofing. And hope that my borked ankle puts up with the expedition. The shortest route is to JB's, then to the chemists' across the way and crossing my fingers that they have what I'm looking for.

I should be able to get back before I need to juggle bread and ovens.

Should.

Working as lickety-darn-split as I can to get it all done.

Challenge #04593-L209: One Hell of a Portent

Deep in the woodlands is a small town in the shadow of an obelisk. Upon this monument is a clock which has been counting down for centuries. No one remembers where it came from, what it means, but it is about to strike midnight and toll the centuries silent bell. -- Anon Guest

The clock has always been there. Attempts to find when it was built have resulted in nothing but frustration. Even the first images of Lumberhill, back when it was

Monday, Yoiks and Away

Hi ho, off to work Mayhem goes. Then I have to do the backup reads, some recordings and videos to wrangle, and shopping to do. And bread to bake.

As well as the usual offerings unto the temple of notes, icing my ankle every two hours, and maybe getting some selfish time at the end of the day.

I'm going to try to at least put one sentence into ADT while I'm there.

Stick a broom up my bum and I can

Challenge #04592-L208: They're Brand New

Save for their wings, you'd think they were human. They were wild and free-spirited. And their only desire was to learn about the world. The good parts, the bad parts, and everything in between. They were not angel, they were not demon, just... themselves. -- Anon Guest

"What'cha doin'?"

Barthus was used to hearing that kind of question from someone between three and eight years old. Not, and they had to look up from their work to check, an adult-shaped entity literally

Sunday, Technicalities Unfucking

I just finished today's tale and Adorable has my tower at minimum functionality. Since she's already working on it, the next order of operations is to get subtitles working on my version of Kdenlive. So I can stop bothering her for the subs to my videos. Huzzah.

At least I got the self-maintenance done. Yay. I'm taking that win.

Packing the cold pack seems to have worked, as I can keep it cold in Adorable's spare fridge. All I'm lacking is a

Challenge #04591-L207: The Valley of Cursed Death

Two hunters venture into the wooded mountains of the Mountain West where they come upon the ruins of a frontier town not marked on any maps. An aged man, must be more than a century old, was there at the founding, and tells the two why no one must ever settle on these lands again. -- Anon Guest

There was no such town on the map, yet the town was here. Well. The remains of the town was here. There were buildings,

Saturday, No Parkrun and Yet More Technicall Issues

I gleeked on my lappy keyboard in the wee small hours of this morning and have had to do a hard reboot to fix the random BS that was happening as a result.

Gleek(n): That thin stream of saliva that comes out sometimes when you yawn.

It's now almost noon. It's taken me this long to unfuck the issue.

For the record, I had random windows popping to the top when I didn't click anything, and essential buttons refusing to be

Challenge #04590-L206: You Were Warned

Oh my God, Spiders, millions of them, pouring out of the walls, everybody RUN! -- Anon Guest

Across the multiverse, there are constants. No matter the nature of civilisation, no matter the fiscal structure, there is always the roommate who freeloads, steals treats, and denies it. Some call them 'goldbricks', some call them 'assholes'. Some call them 'scabs'. Rickerd called hir annoying housemate Horb, because that was hir name.

Horb was a young Elf, 'merely' thirty-seven[1], with rather indulgent parents who

Friday, Physio Day

Hopefully, I get the green light for driving further than a shopping expedition. That means I can take my tower to Adorable to get it un-imploded tomorrow. Why tomorrow? Because the physio is happening this afternoon. Taking it towards the evening might be a little bit on the risky side.

Best to go in full daylight so I don't risk making two round trips when I may only be able to withstand one.

I've set up a "working nest" on the dining

Challenge #04589-L205: They Hunt in Summer

A disgraced archeologist discovers a ruin dating to the inter-glacial period. However, the searcher finds evidence of life, despite the place being buried for 14,000 years, and that life may be more serpentine than human in nature… -- Anon Guest

[AN: Fun fact - The pyramids were being built at the same time that Europeans were hunting mammoths. So "ruins dating back to the inter-glacial period" is like... active for Ancient Egypt. I'm going to assume northern hemisphere and inside the

Thursday, Well... Fuck

My main compy imploded because I accidentally kicked the power loose multiple times because I need a pillow for my stupid pained ankle because I twisted it getting out of the car at Costco [that ate the malt that lay in the house that Jack built]. So I now cannot edit the videos due tomorrow. And a bunch of other things, besides. A lot of the stuff I do for the interwebs is locked in that machine and I can only pray

Challenge #04588-L204: A Knack For Finding Trouble

Wraithvine {& companion (?) maybe} finds hirself marooned on a deserted island, though the little patch of sand, coconut palms, and corals might hold more secrets than ze had first thought. -- Anon Guest

The good news, such as it was, was that the ship and crew had survived the storm. The bad news that Wraithvine was the one soul lost. Fifty people lived to see another day, return to their lives, and otherwise be a part of the world.

Wraithvine would evidently

Wednesday, Rant and Other Things

I am definitely doing a "Reasons To Love" this week. A total enthusiasm about season one is a bit overdue.

I am attempting to operate without the ankle brace, today. I have it nearby, just in case.

I've finished another five chapters of ADT so there's more recordings in my future. There's going to be one hell of an upload for Adorable when I have that avenue to share those things.

The longer it takes to stabilise that avenue of communication, the

Challenge #04587-L203: Appeal to a Higher Authority

Deep in the seldom trafficked mountain vales and sheer canyons is a small town, friendly enough to outsiders, but whose denizens make it clear that any traveler should clear out by nightfall or remain inside the inn.

Only Wraithvine can get to the bottom of this, though it might be better to work alone on this one… -- Anon Guest

Wraithvine arrived in the little town close to sunset and was confused by the sight of people hurrying to their homes and

Tuesday, Furthering PLNs

Mayhem now has a foundation in using Cursor, and a week to FAFO with it before he says yae or nae to the traineeship. Okay. Would have been nice to know that before this morning.

I have a parcel to pick up so I might as well go on a supply run while I'm out. In socks and sandals because my shoes are too heavy for my delicate ankle. I'm in my comfy dowdy clothes because I could not give less of
