Challenge #04387-L003: To Maarow

Sometimes a knomira isn't a knomira. Sometimes, they're just a person whose day has gone so catastrophically wrong, they're at a loss on how to cope anymore. -- Anon Guest

There's a way to tell the difference between arrogance and exasperation. Arrogance acts like the owner of it is the sole centre upon which the universe turns. Exasperation is tired of everything else's [EXCREMENT]. Exasperation is close to tears. Exasperation may also be explaining their problem with the wrong lexicon.

Which is why the phrase, "How can I help you?" is such an open pit trap with such sharp spikes at the bottom.

"I asking at airlock, they sending me Customs. I asking at Customs, they sending me Security. I asking at Security, they sending me Medical. I asking at Medical, they sending me here. Please? How travelling to Maarow from Station here?"

Challenge #04386-L002: Read the Signs

Don't go after a ship filled with neophytes. Their adult counterparts will only kill you. Human larvae will do far worse. -- Anon Guest

The ship was painted bright yellow, throwing the bold, black lettering on its hull into sharp contrast. Slow moving, loaded with life forms and cargo, it looked like the perfect target.

Appearances can be deceptive.

The space pirates found this out eventually. They were congratulating themselves on what looked like a sweet haul as they latched onto, then

Thursday, Mor Shopping PLNs

We need paper towels. I need coffee. I have further PLNs to make myself some Ginger Con Carne in an effort to train up my baby tongue. I'm sick of being vulnerable to capsaicin.

That's the non-standard ideas in mind for today.

I checked on the feedback from the GameMaker community, nothing. I looked for FUSE in the normal places. Nothing. Looks like I'm going to have to carefully read the instructions in the error and then go poke around and attempt

Challenge #04385-L001: Beware of Humans

They attacked a human outpost thinking that these small, squishy, beings would be easy prey.

They learned the truth, and broadcasted their apologies, and a dire warning about humans. -- Anon Guest

This is an urgent message to anyone crossing into this solar system. Beware. Do not attack the cogniscents in this area. Do not raid the settlements in this area. Do not go within zero point eight Standard Astral Units[1] of any rocky planetoid in this system. They will detect

Wednesday, Hello 2025

Happy New Year from my little patch of sunny Queensland. I plan on trying to train up my baby tongue to the accepted norm of "spicy" so I don't have to be a wet blanket in social meal situations.

My resolutions this year are:

  • Return to a writing routine
  • Spend 10 minutes a day working on my passion project, minimum
  • Find something positive in every day

Sticking to three seems more do-able than having a list an arm long.

I just finished

Challenge #04384-K366: Poison in Acid? Refreshing!

Human, that fluid is caustic enough to strip paint from metal! And you're drinking it?? How are you not dead yet??

"It tastes good, it's fizzy, and it helps me stay awake. Besides, its just a soda." -- Anon Guest

Companion Laus could barely contain hir anxiety. "But.. the gasses will cause intense digestive pain. Colic is a fatal--"

Human Tam belched, causing Companion Laus to boggle at him. "You can just do that?"

"Yeah, we can reject stuff that's bad for

Tuesday, Mor Bread and Chill

It's the final day of 2024, with four years of nightmare ahead for the entire world because people in the United States decided their leader based on voting day petrol prices. And then did their research about what firkin TARRIFS were.

...fucking hell...

I got Miss Chaos to make her kit bread and it's way easier than sourdough. And faster.

My bread's currently wrapped in paper and chilling in the fridge. We shall soon see if I'm buying Chaos a bread machine

Challenge #04383-K365: Isekai Adoration Situation

You can fall in love with a fantasy, or you can fall in love with reality. But when the virtual world becomes too real, and you fall in love there, how do you separate the two? -- Anon Guest

[AN: Wise words from MeMum - If you can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy, you should give up fantasy]

"Truck-kun, take me away," Addie whined, facing the horror of homework. So much math. So much study. She really wanted to get

Monday, Shopping and Bread

Finally got the dough ready for a baking day, but I also need to get a few things here and there, so... shopping first.

I am definitely going to spend some of my mad money on Steam cards. Chants of Sennar and a few other little treats shall be mine. Muahahaha...

Then all I have to do is engineer the time to play them.

One thing at a time.

Tomorrow, I think I'll be helping Chaos make her kit bread. Needs must

Challenge #04382-K364: Defying Inevitability

There are only three constants in the universe:

Death, Taxes, Evolution into crustacean

Human seem to be the only outlier, but not for the reason many think of. -- Anon Guest

Human fiction has played with the notion since before the Shattering. Someone capable of taking aspects from various beasts attempts to create the most dangerous being possible. The beast that emerges is, of course, a Human. Someone capable of messing with evolution concocts the ultimate form of life and gets... a

Sunday, Embuggerances and Attempts Made

So my internet dips out after two hours of computer use and the only way to get it back is to reboot the tower. You can imagine how much of a pain in the arse this is.

I'm working with my lovelies to try and unriddle this nonsense on a permanent basis. Two hours at a time is better than nothing, but having the entire 24 would be much better.

Doing the best I can with the little I've got.

Offerings as

Challenge #04381-K363: Throwing the Book at Them

Knowledge is very powerful, especially when it's dropped on an enemy from two stories up. -- Anon Guest

The library of Teregoss was a labyrinth of shelves. Some holding scrolls, most holding books, and the filing system was so complicated that it took years of study to learn it.

And somehow, despite many traps to prevent it, Nemmios the Vile had managed to take a tome of otherwise forgotten lore. Something that was bound to cause a tidal wave of pain and

Saturday, Parkrun and Sadim Syndrome

Sadim, for those not in the know, is "Midas" spelled backwards. King Midas famously turned everything he touched into gold. The reverse of that is... well...

Everything's been going to shit. At least technology-wise.

First - the cable to charge my headphones decided it wasn't going to do its one job any more.
Next - my car didn't want to lock at parkrun for reasons unknown. Locked and unlocked literally everywhere else though.
Now - The connection betwixt my tower and my

Challenge #04380-K362: Not a Nice Kitty

They think the creature is just another earth cat. They should have listened to the warnings about the black creatures with the white stripes down their backs. The invaders need a lot of care and decontamination! -- Anon Guest

"Uh, Byox? Don't pet that one!"

"It's a harmless cat. Look, it has it's tail up, and what a floof!"

"No don't--" too late. Human Dez winced in pure sympathy as Byox got the full treatment from a neighbourhood skunk. "Ooohhhh... Ouch."

Byox

Friday, Shopping Trip and Healing

Toe news: The antibiotics I'm on are working. The injury site is no longer reddened nor warm. Even the scabs are flaking off. My lung issues are also waning, and tomorrow evening is the time I take the last pill. Yay.

Today's PLNs include a trip to the DFO where they sell the best possible shoes at the best possible price. Thus leaving a little extra mad money.

I'm also making a start on bread, today. Baking it tomorrow.

I might even
