Shenanigans

A 70-post collection

Early Start

I began my day at half-past midnight in expectation of a stream... but Toasty isn't in the right mindset to Art, today. That's cool, though, because I finally got my keister in gear and caught up with the buffer for Inter-Mission. The downside now is that I have to find a rough half-hour in which everyone else is asleep so I can record more stories for more buffer.

Which is going to be fun because the entire house is now on Who Cares Time [What's the time? Who cares!] and doing whatever whenever.

I have no idea when I'll be able to record, but this Friday will create the need for another buffer episode. At least I'm making my derp work for me.

I actually forgot I'd begun work on the recently-finished buffer episode and thought it was already finished until I checked. The plus side of this nonsense is that I have a new piece of music for Ellipsis Addiction ready for the next episode, and the skeleton ready for the recorded stories when I have them.

It's starting to look a lot like the Masque of the Red Death out there, with all the higher-ups grabbing what they can get, getting infected, and some getting a comeuppance. Not a lot of tears are being shed for landlords complaining about rent freezes and so forth. Not a lot of sympathy for megaglobocorps getting billion-dollar bailouts whilst they fire everyone on their staff. NO sympathy at all for landlords who are expecting rent from people who no longer have work.

I can already see our government seriously considering extreme measures - shutting the entire country down for the interim. Meanwhile the US is like "How can we survive without the cogs of industry grinding the common man to powder?" and want to force people to go to work and keep spreading the disease. Like millions of people dying through administrative neglect is another form of natural selection.

It's all going to end in a garbage fire, I know it. Onwards with the daily tale!

Making Insomnia Pay

I woke up at Arse AM again, and this time, Mayhem wasn't in a mood to chat. Therefore, I'm about 3/4 done with editing Inter-Mission's latest episode now. W00t.

Even after tidying up the reading, I still have to paste in the background music, but that all takes less than a minute from start to stop.

Fingers crossed, I should have all that nonse tied up by this afternoon. Yay.

Fingers crossed, I actually get a favourable reply to the

Embuggerance

So. Yesterday's PLN to go seeking publishers/agents went awry. Why? Because yet another instance of site skimming apps cropped up and this time, I had to take action.

Site skimmer apps are more or less little bots that go through other sites' content and present it as their own. Some are little more than cosmetic windows by which users can interface with the site, others... copy without permission.

What they all do is remove traffic from the origin site, so statistics

AAAAAAHHHH!

Okay. Now that I am no longer obsessing about getting last year's Year of Instants out into the world, I can now obsess about selling off Adapting to some luckless lucky soul out there that I can find who might just be interested in this kind of thing.

The usual run of madness be happening today. Money run, house unfuckening, Instant and 500 words in the novel. I have money in the bank again, but I'm still pulling my head in because

It seems to have worked?

Like... I didn't have any freezing. I was able to do other things [though I did move the writing of the Instant to my lappy whilst the main compy did the Disk Doctor thing] and all SEEMS okay.

Acid test #1: Making the cover to 2019's Year of Instants.

Acid test #2: Creating and adjusting the Word97 version of 2019's Year of Instants.

All these compy shenanigans have been why I've procrastinated all of that noise. So. I'll do the important stuff

I'm Shorn

I got sick of the outside temperature and its effect on my bod, so I shaved a metric cat's worth of hair off'a my head.

I mean, serious. This lot of shaved hair could make an entire cat:

[Shown here: A clump of hair on some grass. There is definitely enough there to make a cat]

Coming soon to an ill-researched cryptid blog near you ;)

Anyway, the time is approaching when I should see Chaos off to school and get some moneys

I Wore Myself Out

All the chaos of yesterday meant that, by about one in the afternoon, I was DONE with the day. I also had to wait for Chaos to come home, go out shopping for more vegetables, and start prepping so that all the meat prepared in the morning would have a side to go with when they enter our (tada!) brand new freezer!

The new upright freezer is looking very swish. It has a temperature readout, it has an alert to let you

Day off? Not so much.

Today is a long weekend day, because there's nothing Australia loves more than an extra day of sloth. Not for me, though.

Me? I have half a table's worth of vegetables and a whole bunch of meats to cook up into an incredible bunch of pre-prepared meals so that myself and anyone else feeling lazy and not in a cooking mood can just heat and eat some keto-friendly joy.

There happens to be a LOT of fish in our collective inventory, so

Whoof...

There's only three stories in Episode 21 of Inter-Mission because story #3 is We're Mostly Harmless, I Swear... the one that started off all the Space Orciness in my pet universe. It's a long, long story. So is the immediate next one.

The fires in NSW and Victoria are finally dying down. I suspect it's more due to there being little left to burn. Of course, there being an influx of severe rainstorms is probably helping with the lack of fire, but

This blog versus 750 words

So most of you who follow my Tumblr know that I've signed on to 750words.com for the one month free trial. Unlike other 'free' trials, it doesn't require access to your credit card first, so that's an automatic win right there.

I also have had a cyclone headache for longer than 12 hours. I'm on painkillers now, but sooner or later, I shall have to cash in that prescription for panaforte or whatever it was with the codeine because cyclone season

Second Day On Meds! Whee!

Also day 2 of attempting to Art every day.

I went ahead and got myself some free animation programs for my iPad and... eeesh.

The free programs always have a "pay for features you need" aspect and it's getting on my niblets because not a lot of cash flow on my end of the chain. I get it. Animation is hard, I get it.

What's so wrong about making animation just a little smidge easier for noobs like me? Please inform me

I think I made the good choice

Yesterday, since we spent most of the day on the road, I wound up VERY tired and just... slept... when I got home. Just... slump. Snore. Done until the wee small hours this very AM.

Useful for streaming, but not much else. But I did get the next five stories recorded so there is that. Even if nobody comes to watch, streaming keeps me honest.

When I'm ahead of my podcast buffer zone, I shall have to work on SESP so I

Here We Go...

Beloved has to pick up their Tesla today. Which means I am tasked with driving them to the train in possibly a very few short minutes.

The good news for you is that my Instant is already done. Yay. Out soon on all good social media platforms.

I just gotta drive first.

Maximum Chaos!

Mayhem's back to work today, and I am the designated driver. Tomorrow, I head off to MeMum's to advise new computer nonsense and attempt to save her files after her last compy got nuked.

I am definitely advising a portable drive so any further file nuking can be avoided.

It's almost ten o'clock. What I need to do is get some street-plausible clothing on and maybe actually focus on my work instead of indulging in play.

Sooner started, sooner done, blablabla.

Crimbolio Madness Commence!

I need to make a list. Checking it twice is not extremely mandatory, but you never know with these things.

Laying in pre-yule supplies during the last days before yule is ALWAYS some degree of fun. I am scarred for life from that one shopping trip where EVERY SINGLE SHOP was playing EVERY SINGLE VERSION EVER of The Little Drummer Boy.

When I die, I'm skipping Hell. I've already been there.

Anyway, most of the family wants money, and part of my
