Realm of the InterNutter

Thoughts, stories and ideas.

Here, I tried to encapsulate what’s wrong with the economy as well as why folks who buy from corporations are protesting corporations. (Like there’s a viable alternative to buying from corporations…)

I think I nearly sprained my hand drawing this. I have teh fail. [Again, click the pic for the HUGE version]

RTFM (Story!)

At the risk of borking my browser again (I don’t exactly have the best of computers) I am going to publish a novella here.

Cross your fingers.

Oyeah. RTFM stands for the techie-favourite acronym: Read The F[laming/expletive deleted] Manual. Also the most common advice to noobs encountering new technology.

RTFM

Dave groaned. On the upside, the painful part was over. On the downside, both his arms were now in permanent casts. More permanent than the

Good Boy (Story!)

This is one of the weird ones. And by “weird”, I mean one of the ones that dropped on me from the sky like a ton of bricks and threatened to burn a hole in my head until I wrote it down.

It ends in a weird place, but if I re-wrote it, it would inevitably turn into a novella and I would loose the short-story twist and fridge horror of it all.

Have at me… but gently. Tell

An open letter to Copyright Extremists

WARNING: This post contains high levels of bile and snark. If you are allergic to, or cannot withstand either ingredients, please avoid exposure to this post.

(may contain traces of sarcasm)

Dear Morons,

Most of you are apparently unaware that copyright and copyright extremism is strangling your income. As a concerned cogniscant being, I thought it best to make you aware of just how mind-bogglingly fuckarse stupid you’re being about the whole thing.

To cloud or not to cloud...

Any Apple fan worth their salt knows that Apple’s bringing the Cloud to the plebs, but what does it mean for writers like me?

Pros, cons and musings below the cut.

Pro: Convenience. A document or WIP [that’s Work In Progress for the unenlightened] can be accessed anywhere by any device, so long as you know the password.

Con: The potentiality for Fic Griefers. People who hack into your cloud just to mess with your work and cause

The Zen of Clean-Up Day

Or, perhaps, the Tao of it.

Cleaning by not-cleaning is by no means as effective as, say, cleaning by actually cleaning.

I have dithered about for as long as I could. I went shopping for some essentials, I had my eyes tested [Interesting photographs!] and also had lunch.

Now I really have to sweep the floor.

Nor Gloom of Night (Story!)

A little bit of palaver before I delve wholesale into the fiction.

Firstly: I write Science Fiction. Yes, the red-headed stepchild of the fiction arena. Well, sparkly vampires and bodice-rippers be damned, I like Science Fiction. If you don’t, then you don’t have to read this.

Secondly: This story has been rejected by Analog Magazine. I would like to find out why, since the standard rejection letter is a trifle vague. Just… be gentle. My ego bruises

What's all this about then?

I woke up this morning and realised that I am Thirty-nine and have done almost squid-all nothing with my life.

I consider myself a writer - but I have finished little and published nothing.

I am a Mum - yet, or perhaps because of that, everything I do is wrong.

I have a degree in Information Technology - and I am unemployable.

I have two kids, both on that marvellously wide rainbow that is ASD, and I think I’m achieving
