Terry Pratchett's Discworld might look intimidating -- there are 40 books, and they're humorous fantasy, which seems like it could be an acquired taste. But everybody should read at least one Discworld book, because they're wonderful, and there's something for everyone. Here's our complete guide to Pratchett's masterwork.
The kid of the punch-clock hero and villain couple has an interesting life.
Her parents named her Everest. Possibly out of a desire to fit in
with the ridiculous names of their gated, elitist community. She shared a
school with three Porsche’s, two Kilimanjaro’s, and at least five kids
with way too many silent Q’s in their name.
She was waiting for
the very day that she was old enough to change her name to something
blandly ordinary. Like
A clearer photo would be nice. I can't tell if that's a resizing disaster, those grody scarifications [God please NO! Never again! FFS that variant was nothing like the 'Crawler we know and love] or actual proper velvet FUR
“beauty and the beast” where beauty’s dad comes home with the rose and is like oh shit oh shit this terrible monster says i have to come live with him forever because i picked his favorite flower and beauty just goes fuck that and puts on her pants and marches down to the beast’s castle herself
and she’s expecting this horrifying dark fortress but it’s actually sort of just a normal castle with big rose bushes
Okay, so I’m supposed to be doing a Uni assignment and studying for a test, but stuff it.
I haven’t written much lately, partly due to a lack of
time and inspiration, and partly because I realised I was horrible at
writing actual characters, as opposed to events. Everybody I
ever created ended up being either wooden or apparently suffering from
MPD, and when I stole someone for a fanfic, they came across very OOC.
And this is the only piece of fiction I’ve written since then that I’ve saved as worth reading. That may be hubris, but give it a go.
I wrote my first fanfic in forever back when The Mandate was having its kickstarter.
I banged out a little script-format tiny fanfic drabble while I was
supposed to be getting my place ready for RPG night, and posted it. So
far as I know it - or its original script version,
Oh hay so, nifty tip for dealing w/ invasive irrational thoughts.
Pretend Spock is standing by your shoulder telling you it’s “illogical” or some shit.
Getting invasive thoughts that everyone you know secretly hates you? Spock is there to be all “That is statistically improbable Captain, several of your friends have told you many times that they enjoy your company.”
Paranoid that you’re going to get hit by a car every time you walk by a road? Spock is
“Muahaha I will destroy Blahtropolis!” “Not if I stop you first also here you forgot your lunch dear.”
[AN: I keep getting reminded of those old looney tunes cartoons with the punch-clock sheepdog and the wolf who looked astonishingly like Wile E. Coyote…]
