Challenge #04868-M119: Tested Not in Vein

Legend holds of a harsh God, who’s marked have the blood drained from their bodies until expiring, this life force fueling the God’s power. The God has no use for the souls of those who are not devotees. So what happens when Elizabeth is dragged into the body of a ghoulish divine and accidentally invokes the right rite to bind her soul to her blood and become a simple blood cell inside the sepulcher halls of Godly flesh? -- Deathshead419

[AN: I just went scrambling to see if I did anything with an Elizabeth anywhere 'cause it seemed a bit familiar... for a hot minute, I was wondering if this was Vykoria related]

The cultists of Lamok were running amok, as it seemed. Determined to convert, lure, or otherwise create new devotees to Hir throng. And they swore up and down that they had nothing to do with the spate of disappearances, honest. They had all these cool secret rites and ancient knowledge. Don't you want to know the ancient knowledge? We have some really alluring secrets...

Of course Elizabeth joined to find them out. Curiosity had its hooks and she had always fallen for the bait. The rest of the cult didn't even seem to mind that she spent most of her time in the temple library, just reading the ancient scrolls.

She came for the secrets, and found them by the yard. Prayers. Rites. Rituals. Elizabeth studied them all. Admittedly, she might confess to being more devoted to learning things than Lamok Hirself, but they were part of the cult, and she was devoted to that bit.

Challenge #04688-L304: Miracles For Midwinterfeast

"Greatfather Langeven is a childhood god. He only sees that which is good in the world, and so comes for the children who believe they have been good. Which is terribly unfair to those who've been told they're wicked their entire, brief lives. But that's a different story for a different time."

The youth had always been kind, had always done their best to help others, even though they, themselves, were constantly being told they were evil, wicked, and, sadly, thoroughly believing

There are many gods for darkness, many for balance, but the ones of light sometimes can seem fewer, far between. Living gods even less. Poor Wraithvine has the equivalent of an "infant god" on hir hands. Now ze has to protect against those that covet this power, will kill for it, until the new temple is built strong enough for the new god to be settled in, and truly get to work.

Challenge #03205-H296: A Parable For All

A village is evacuating en masse. Even the local dragons, normally holding such villages in disdain, are now grabbing as many people as they can safely carry in their paws, allowing humans to strap carry-baskets to their backs, and runners are warning away all travelers. The local mountain is emitting smoke, the rumble and scents mean only one thing, and though a very stubborn few refuse to leave, often to the tears of family members who are begging them to also evacuate,

Very slightly annoyed

Following yesterday's rant about Modern Medicine and how it likes patients being sick, I got a little bit more information about how things went.

The only alternatives available in the early 70's were (a) powdered formula that was probably mostly sugars or the wrong kinds of fats, and (b) canned milk. Neither of these did me any good. And, as far as I'm aware, the knowledge about the benefits of goat's milk came by random happenstance.

One article in the Lancet can

Another rant for another time #1: Repentance vs Religion

I made a promise and I’m that honest that I have to at least try to see it through. All grist for the thing-a-day. I will make a concerted effort to stay on topic, because otherwise this theme could last me the rest of my life.

Stand back. I’m about to get outspoken.

Here’s a bombshell for you. You do not have to be religious to repent.

Amazing.
