Sunday, Stream, Headache, and PLNs

So here's the dealio...

  • The ISBN's are bought and paid for
  • I am still using RTFM as a test case
  • I have a LOT of ePubs downloaded to extract, fix, and rejigger into the format that Ingram prefers
  • I am still waiting for RTFM to go through so I know all this horseshit works

Meanwhile, I'm going to try the ePub-to-ZIP trick and see if that streamlines what I am calling The Process. Because somewhere between Smashwords and Draft2Digital, the formatting of my work got massively fucked the hell up.

So not only to I have to rebugger all of my cover art to the correct size (fuck these assholes), I also have to delve through all of my text to make certain it's all (a) the correct font (b) the correct size and (3) the correct formatting and emphasis. FUCK these assholes.

OTOH if Draft had never done anything stupid, I'd have never realised that my work had been fucked up.

So part of my daily schedule now is going to be unfucking a work. Possibly alternating between Years of Instants and actual novels with maybe a short as a "quick and easy" fix. But I am going to run out of those in due course.

I think I'll start with my first Year of Instants to test the ZIP method, keep it as also-work on the side.

Update: The ZIP method works, for interesting definitions of 'work'. Each chapter is its own separate file. Yay.

I am definitely going to have to make a template in LibreOffice because THIS promises to be a whole new can of arseholes. And I still have to copy/paste everything. Fingers crossed, it's in better shape than doing it through the ePub editor.

I think I managed to create a template. I shall see how I go henceforth. Later. For now, I concentrate on getting as much of today's story done as I can before I need to be Mod.

Wheeeee....
