Tuesday, Milestone and a Dove
Yesterday, Adorable rescued a fledgeling dove from the Magpie Mafia. We think it's a Spotted Dove, but identification is a little difficult. Beloved and Adorable are plotting to take it to the vet's for a patch-up and advice on how to go forward.
Or for a transfer of custody.
Spotted Doves are not pests, they're one of the species that kind of blew in from the island chain to the north. So hopes are good that this little creature can have a life after magpies.
We're enormous softies at heart, and having a bird to save is a lovely font of anxiety. Fingers crossed, the little creature makes it. So far, the only news we have is "resting comfortably".
As for milestones, well... Today, I write my five thousandth flash fiction. Five thousand daily tales. 5 000. Five times ten to the power of three.
Holy shit.
That's a lot.
Let's get on with getting it written, then.
Update:
The dove has been delivered to a specialist vet because bird flu shit. There is excellent hope of recovery, and the exotic pets vet is keeping every avian in quarantine for obvious reasons. My lovelies had to go all the way to Redcliff for this. Fun.
But the bird is in good hands and life is returning to what passes for normal.
