Authio Commentary

XMEC - by the InterNutter

This is one my darling dearest co-wrote. As an incohate idea [panel one] it had appeal. Ken laughed like a drain when he saw this - primarily because Kurt dropped his soda.
As always with baby strips, I tend to go with whatever Kenny is saying at the time. He's a chatty little fellow, so I never really run dry for his dialogue.

My first attempt at a XMEC/Bob and George crossover. I honestly *did* try to line this up with Dave, the author of _Bob and George_, but he was in the thick of a storyline that he couldn't interrupt. Rats.
I stole the colour scheme from one of his older strips, so any time you see that grey-vs-grey background, you know you're in Light Labs, and the _Bob and George_ universe. I refuse to change just 'cause he's changed the backgrounds. So ner.
The 'obvious comment' in panel two is "professional psychiatric help" ^_^ just in case you were wondering.

Most of the folks in _Bob and George_ act as if they've had a temporary brain bypass ^_^ I guess there's just no end to stupid jokes... Anyway, Dr. Light completely fails to recognise Cape Man(tm) as a villain because he's *polite*. Villains usually point a gun at you and demand whatever.
And, as you can see in panel three, Cape Man(tm) is *not* a man. Oooooo... I ain't telling what he *is*, though. It'll spoil the surprise.

I've observed that, in the _Bob and George_ universe, the only character with near-consistent brains is Roll [the gal in the red dress], and *she* spends most of her time cleaning up after the rest of the strip.
And Doctor Light, while smart enough to build robots, has the memory capacity of an overripe stilton, and sometimes the brains to match. This is why he doesn't remember Cape Man(tm) in the later strips.

Isn't it always the way? You get yourself a cool item that costs an arm and a leg, and you bring it home in a box slightly bigger than *it* is-- and you find it's in pieces and your own weight in styofoam. Then you find those fatal words in fine print. "Some assembly required".
Three words of doom for the mechanically inept like myself ^_^

What is it with musical interludes that makes people laugh? Everyone who reads this strip busts out laughing at panel one [which, in retrospect, should have used a brighter colour for the musical notes. Sigh] and again at panel four. I just wanted a bit of sillyness as Cape Man(tm) assembled his minion. I never expected a barrel laugh.
I just love the idea that Kurt treats the 'walking boxes' as creatures. It's just so surreal.

This one made my darling dearest *roar* laughing, because it implies that Cape Man(tm) is too unfit to catch a baby in a box.
I say he's never tried to catch a small child. Those little dickenses can put on an impressive turn of speed every time you bend over to snag 'em. And when you've actually *caught* 'em, you're exhausted and they're hyper. Whee fun.
I love the last panel. Sort of a "What did you do to the birthday cake?"/"(burp)" kind of riff. Yes, Kenny eats things. Some of them are actually edible...

I wanted to do something special at 64, since both Kurt and I are Beatles fans, and I wound up talking about it to my darling hubby for two *days*. He didn't give a rats' anatomy, and a punchline was born.
Kurt's singing, FYI, is perfectly in tune and sounds wonderful. It's just that he has this effect on people when singing Beatles' tunes.
